My friends and I are regular visitors and always find the staff very welcoming and polite they have also put Christmas decorations up!! We have tasted mostly all of the curry dishes always full of flavour and fresh. As previous reviews have stated the outside appearance is off putting surely a can of paint wouldn't go amiss! But good luck... More

This is probably the oldest Indian restaurant in town and still the best. It may not be the best looking place. But the service is always good and food is always something special. The Tika dishes are all served on a sizzler and there is always loads of it. If I have one minor criticism, it's when you have been... More

Having driven past plenty of times over the last twenty years or so, we decided to give it a try. The poppadoms and contents of the chutney tray were really fresh, the lager was fine and the service was very good. The staff were good to talk to. My colleague kept raving on about how good his Karahi was. Mine... More

Driven past this place loads of times and always fancied trying it. A bit tatty on the outside and in but a good atmosphere (8pm on a Saturday night). Food was good and value for money - 3 of us ate and drank for just over £50. Seemed like the decor and music was stuck in the 1980's which was... More

Want to give the restaurant 4/6 but 4/5 is too much. Any restaurant which can cope with 14 of our family including 2 hyper kids under 10 and a coeliac on a Friday evening is doing well. Slightly disappointed in both dishes: a) King Prawn Puree starter was very mild although this is personal taste - the puri bread was... More

Must just be me, Visited later on in the evening with my husband and it was rubbish, not sure whether the meat was actually out of a can or just pet food but it didn't get eaten by either of us. Surroundings not all that great but wouldn't of minded if food was up to scratch. Couple of other diners... More

We have been to Raj Shahi every Christmas Eve for the past three or four years. We won't be going next year. We were a party of nine this year and the tables were put together haphazardly to accommodate us. We arrived at 7.30pm, ordered and had a long wait for the starter. We then had to order again for... Being going to the Raj for what seems like forever, its an unusual place on the outskirts of Bolton town centre and its been there for as long as I can remember. Food is always very good and staff always do the best to help, personally I stick with the bottled beer as the draught lager is a bit hit... More

Let's be straight to the point, if you want fine dining with fancy paintings, plush carpets and an extensive wine cellar then head to central Manchester (or other) as you won't get that here. Having said that, what you will get is extensive menu choices, tailored food to suit your exact tastes and waiters who will quite literally wait on... More
