This would have received a lower rating if it hadn't been for the superb ambiance and atmosphere in the pub and restaurant made up of quirky rooms on different levels and beams galore. A large, old house with plenty of parking. Inside was full of different rooms with very old beams and fires going. Lovely atmosphere. Service very friendly. By the time we left, the restaurant was pretty busy, especially since it was a Monday lunchtime. The lunch offer is very good value. A selection of mains, many less than £10 and then... More

My husband and I booked into here as we were staying nearby before our flight the next morning. When we got to the pub we managed to squeeze into the car park as it was very busy. We walked inside and were greeted and advised they would be with us in a moment. We were taken to a table at... More

My other expiriences have been great otherwise. Foods good, the staff are nice. And i really like the interior.. its so cozy. And... More

I went for Sunday lunch, I had the roast shoulder of lamb of the special board with a side portion of cawliflower cheese the only disappointing thing was it didn't come with roast potatoes. The food was delicious so much so after a small rest I had room for pudding which was sticky toffee apple pudding with custard. The service... More

Part of the Vintage Inn chain which we use fairly frequently. Again we were not disappointed. Another lovely old pub which has been allowed to shine under the VI banner. Interesting local ales were available together with a good wine list. Food as always was excellent with interesting specials. The staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much... More

I often go with a large group of friends for lunch at the Hillside. They are very friendly and accommodating and there is usually a good, varied menu. I would recommend it as a reasonably priced, decent meal.

Used to visit very regularly. Found the menu choice to have changed over the last 12 months not for the better unfortunately. Portions appears to have become smaller. Less staff running around, and have found service to the a little slow. Wednesday "Pie Night" not to be missed. Very sad that this lovely place has somewhat gone downhill on its... More
