On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant member of staff. This set the tone for a very pleasant meal. The menu was very good and the food was very good. We'll presented and plentiful we we're served by a lovely waitress DANI.So thanks to her the lunch was very good. Will defiantly return and wouldn't hesitate to reccomend.

Despite being reasonably local, I haven't Been to the Hillside for some time, preferring the Frogs Hole and the new coaching Halt (logistics mainly) Went there Friday night for a pub meal and left wondering why on earth I left it so long to return. Service was faultless and the food FAB. Try the sharing platters for a wonderful starter.... More

We have chosen the Hillside Inn for many get togethers over the years and it never fails us. Even is something goes awry (as it's bound to some times) the staff are quick to react and always pleasant. Excellent customer service and nice food.

Another true gem from the Vintage Inn chain. Another large family gathering that was a far cry from the disastrous meal a few weeks back (see a previous review). Lovely food and as always good choice on the menu, all helped by cheery patient staff who joined with our banter. The whole evening was far happier end enjoyable. Despite a... More

We booked a table for 8 on a Monday night and were amazed how busy it was. The service was super-friendly and efficient. Great choice of food and specials ( Bread and oils starter was amazing). Everyone had a really enjoyable evening. Thank you to the team at Hillside. You deserve a #1.

Only read the negative report once sat at the table and having finished the meal think they just had a bad day. We had the roast beef and everything was nicely presented with good service. The peas were perfect and fresh - I hate getting birds eye when out! For starter we had the bread and oil which was nicely... More

Food very average, ale selection poor, gents toilet disgusting with urine all over the floor and it stunk. Not cleaned in days I suspect. then you walk out onto the dining room carpet!! Very poor hygiene which makes you wonder about the kitchens? This was early evening and the place was not busy. Totally unacceptable and shows bad management.

The Hillside Inn is fairly local and somewhere we like to pop in to now & then, normally being reliable in delivering good food & service but visiting today for Sunday lunch was an outstanding experience. We ordered the sharing beef rib for 2 which was very reasonably priced and sounded tasty. The waiter came out at one point to... More

I like country pubs although it's hard to find one if you're not in the countryside! Hillside Pub/Restaurant is a 5 minute drive from TBS on the Brighton/London Victoria mainline. 4 ales on draft, decent eats, pleasant staff and a wonderful array of seating areas (outside, bar, lounge or restaurant) depending on circumstances. Child friendly, lots of parking and a... More
