Essentially the menu is pimped-up pub-grub at a restaurant price, but it is good quality and the place is always buzzing - particularly at weekends - and very pleasant with attentive staff and suitable for couples or family to relax. Okay for a pot of tea and a read of the newspapers too.

We had an Anniversary lunch at the Dukes Head. The food was very good standard the portions are far to large and there was a lot of vegetables wasted on our table due to the extreme portions. The meals could be a bit cheaper with less food served to each guest. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The service was good... More

The only reason I leave one star is because there is no option to leave none. This is the 6th and last time I visited the Dukes head.Last time was August 2013. Not sure what's happened but the food was simply terrible! I ordered the Duck Terrine for starter. What first put me off was the muddy grey colour and the... More

My wife and I visited today and we loved it. The atmosphere, staff and food- all exceptional. We were offered drinks at the bar to start with and then we moved to the restaurant to eat. We had an amazing time. They were very busy tonight but we didn't feel rushed or forgotten at any point. Staff were very friendly,... More

The serving floor staff are fantastic. However, the management from restaurant up to the top are definitely not fit for purpose in any way. I had been attending this establishment for all of 2013, but will no longer visit. The food, once very good and plenty of it, has definitely dropped with many of the vegetables charge as extras. Believe... More

It’s Extraordinary to read your comment here on trip advisor. A joint management decision was made to respond to your feedback regarding your visit back on the 14th Jan 2014. We did find it a little odd how it took you 7 weeks to write us a complaint regarding the charge for lime cordial as you sent your comment to... More

Arrived about 9pm after a tiringjourney back to the UK after being on the go since 7am. A very busy well run place to come and eat after a long day. The place was full of seemingly happy diners. It was well dressed, clean and full of quirky corners and interesting areas with fluffy sheepskin draped benches, cushions on some... More

Have just eaten here and I am sorry to say after the recommends the food is a let down. After travelling up from Cornwall the night before our flight we were looking forward to an enjoyable pre-holiday meal. I had the anti pasti which was drenched in oil. I used a serviette to absorb the oil. My partner had the... More
