Description: Bistro Les Chats is a traditional French bistro where all our dishes are made on the premises with fresh ingredients. We use organic produce where practical and when it tastes the best. Our meat comes mainly from Wiltshire farms, with some specialist items coming from Rungis market in Paris; our chicken is always free range, our eggs are free range organic from Purton House Organics. Fish comes fresh daily, mainly from Cornwall, some from Scotland. Our menu changes monthly to reflect seasonal availability of fresh produce. We also offer a carefully chosen wine selection and range of French beers and ciders. Fixed price lunch and early evening menus are available, as well as a la carte. Reservations are recommended, particularly at weekends, but not always necessary. All our desserts and pastries are made on the premises and celebration cakes and gateaux can be made to order.

Bistros les chats is excellent... From the ambience, to the varied menu, to the detail of the two types of butter on offer (salted or not). The food is of the highest quality and having been regulars for a number of years we can testify to their commitment to ingredients by season. Eating there is always a great experience, and... More

Firstly I must say we have eaten here on a few occasions. The food is always cooked and presented beautifully. The service excellent. If you haven't been you really should give it ago. We were a little disappointed with a couple of issues this time. One if our starter's was the scallops with black pudding. Although very nice it was... More

Popped in with work partners for a meal after work. Very nice food. I chose the cauliflower soup followed by roast cod and pui lentils. Lovely. Only one observation - very restricted menu for vegetarians. We had three who also didn't eat fish so only one starter and one main available. Tip - care if vegetarian

Our only regret is that we hadn't found Les Chats sooner but we've more than made up for it! Next to Las Gatos tapas bar, (same management) this is a little piece of France transported to Swindon's Old Town. The monthly menu means you can eat seasonal 'bests'. Although I rarely order anything other than the French cut "onglet" (steak),... More

Struggle to find good eateries in Swindon but this place is certainly one of them. A small seasonal menu which is perfect. Food cooked to perfection in a timely manner and very good service by the young waiting staff. Only slight negative for me ( not my partner) was being seated right next to another couple when there were other... More

Very impressed from start to finish! Waiters were extremely friendly and professional all evening and the food was amazing! Very tasty? Great combination of flavours and textures! We had a bottle of red wine with our dinner and it was the perfect temperature and complimented our food perfectly! Would recommend this place to everyone, hoping next time we go its... More

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Every time i have been, the food, service and atmosphere have been spot on. The rib-eye steak just melts in your mouth as do the mussels and the desserts are to die for.

Thank you for this - we have a great many regular customers and are always pleased to see more. Our fresh mussels from Brixham have a great reputation and many of you will be delighted to know that after a break during the summer months (when quality diminishes and the mussels need a chance to breed and grow) Moules Frites... We visited today for lunch after visiting the Outlet Village before going to my fathers 90th birthday celebration tea. We left the Outlet Village early as most of the eateries were closed for refurbishment and dropped in her, lovely little place with authentic French cuisine, service like France relaxed and unhurried, highly recommended, we live in Hampshire but will definitely... Excellent service, a lovely welcome and lovely food at a reasonable price. The amazing thing was that this was in Swindon! Wood street looked positively charming in the sunshine and we could easily have been in France. Tres Bien!
