Description: Bistro Les Chats is a traditional French bistro where all our dishes are made on the premises with fresh ingredients. We use organic produce where practical and when it tastes the best. Our meat comes mainly from Wiltshire farms, with some specialist items coming from Rungis market in Paris; our chicken is always free range, our eggs are free range organic from Purton House Organics. Fish comes fresh daily, mainly from Cornwall, some from Scotland. Our menu changes monthly to reflect seasonal availability of fresh produce. We also offer a carefully chosen wine selection and range of French beers and ciders. Fixed price lunch and early evening menus are available, as well as a la carte. Reservations are recommended, particularly at weekends, but not always necessary. All our desserts and pastries are made on the premises and celebration cakes and gateaux can be made to order.

I have eaten at Les Chats twice now and both times the food was amazing and the service faultless. This really is a charming restaurant offering authentic, delicious French food with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The menu changes on a monthly basis which is great. There is an extensive wine list too! Last night I had their mushroom soup which... More

We managed to get a late booking here to reserve a table only 20 minutes in advance but this was for a very early time (6pm). Service was good, food was excellent quality and you could almost believe you were in France (unless you looked at the buildings over the road). Good wine selection. Definitely on the pricey side and... More

The food was excellent and the service could not be faulted, We managed to drink a couple of bottles of their wine which was not overpriced and they had a wide range available. Could not be faulted in anyway.

Lovely atmosphere and the Christmas menu was good. The quality of food seemed improved on previous visits. Just a disappointment that one of our group who has a dairy intolerance and phoned to pre order food was not able to have a desert while the rest of us did - the only option was sorbet which she did not want... Authentic atmosphere. Good choice of dishes. The beignets starter was delicious as was the fish special of the day. Meringue desert was disappointing. Not sure it deserved the "infamous" tag. Good wine selection. A bit pricey but overall very good quality.

OK, I'll admit it. Bistro Les Chats is a bit of an indulgent, guilty pleasure restaurant for me. I've been here MANY times. The food is always wonderful, and the staff are unfailingly friendly and professional. The atmosphere is cosy and perfect for couples or small groups. The delicious bread comes with a choice of salted or unsalted French butter,... More

I normally give French wines and French Cuisine a big miss. Not because I dislike them rather on the advice of the French minister for culture who was being interviewed on TF1 a number of years ago and slated the English for not being more like the French who avoid, wherever possible, food and drink that is not produced in...
