The restaurant has lost a good deal of the uniqueness of the previous location in George Street. It has certainly lost the personal service. The food is good, being well presented and prepared but the service is disappointing. The young, inexperienced and under trained waiter was out of his depth. We were allowed the sit for long periods of time.... More

Beware, this restaurant is not in the same hands it was when in George Street Derby when it was constantly receiving accolades. Now re-sited in Sadler gate next to The Old Bell and the name 'Zest' retained, our lunch time visit was not like previous times in George Street. Even though the restaurant was not busy, kitchen service gave the... More

I visited Zest for the first time in the new (and improved) location this evening. The decor is stylish and unfussy and the menu (we opted for the early evening menu) was varied and very reasonably priced. Our food was well cooked and nicely presented. In addition, the (young) staff were very smartly dressed and had impeccable manners. The slight... More

This was our first visit to Zest in the new location. The food was quite tasty and well prepared but the portions were just too small. We don't want mountains of food but do like to feel that we have been out for a meal. The service was a bit hit and miss, with not a lot of communication between the... More

Zest at the previous location was one of my favourite restaurants so I was looking forward to eating at the new location. I went with a friend last weekend prior to going on to a show. As it was relatively early we chose our meal from the "early bird" menu. We decided on just the two courses, starter and main.... More

I had heard some negative reviews but was invited along to a friends birthday meal. I have to say that the food was excellent and the service exceeded my expectations. There was some initial confusion over the timings of the the early menu but staff honoured what was booked so all good. Will be back very soon. Many thanks.

Visited with high hopes, this restaurant has recently moved and is in lively Sadlergate. Saturday night, great weather yet the restaurant was almost empty. Food was pretty good and no complaints but not head-turningly good and for the price I hoped for a bit better. Enthusiastic service from waiter who said it was his first shift - could have been...
