lunchtime treat

I have lunch here if I feel like an affordable treat! The paninis are lovely but I always enjoy one of their burgers and the chips are scummy too (good portion sizes too!). Def recommend!

Tucked away in Sadlergate in the Cathedral Quarter of Derby, this is a great find whether it is for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. It has good food, friendly and helpful staff, and a nice ambience. Highly recommended. One word of warning, though, don't sit near the door in winter as it does not shut fully when people enter and... More

Having been in meetings, the cheerful exterior of the Kitchen, the pleasant smells emanating therefrom, together with the advertisement for 'scrumptious home made cakes' tipped the scale and enticed us in for a break. Whilst being fairly basic in style, the Kitchen manages to fit a quart into a pint pot, and there was an enticing display of cakes, spoiling... More

In the heart of the Cathedral Quarter and fashionable Sadler Gate with it's beautiful artisan shops, The Kitchen offers a warm pleasant ambience for a break at any time of day. Friendly staff and well presented food and drinks......the tea was particularly quirky but I won't spoil the surprise! IfI had one criticism, I could their balsamic a bit too... More

I dislike the fact that the staff are not friendly and you are paying a hefty amount to eat here. This is probably the most expensive coffee on the street too. so all in all it's put me off.

Very nice cafe with good food and beverages. The staff could be a little more friendly (I suspect it is the boss or one of the key managers who is a little bulldog like) but not to the point of off putting. The reason I would not choose to frequent this cafe regularly is that it always feels cramped in... More

We have walked past this little café many times - don't know why we never came in before. It looks okay from the outside = if you sneak a look inside its even better. It a really clean, friendly, well run sandwich and light lunch restaurant at the museum end of Sadler Gate. We called in this morning on chance... More

Simply, the service was quick and friendly, the food was what you expect out of a full English and plentiful too. Good selections of coffee's and vegetarian foods and well priced. The place was also nicely decorated with simple vintage designs. We will be back soon :)

Visited here for lunch twice in 4 days and wasn't disappointed. The food and service as good as previous visits and lovely soup on offer each day with really really fresh bread.

Called in for breakfast and had the sausage/bacon sandwich, wow, a proper door stop sandwich, tasty incredients on chunky bread with tomato relish. Service was quick and efficient and I liked the little touch of having your own "mini" milk bottle with your drink. Very good breakfast menu choice, very well decorated and an enjoyable place to stop off at.
