Relaxing, Quirky place

We eat here regularly- and they never disappoint, we usually go for the early bird menu which is excellent value for money. We never get rushed- which is quite rare and the waitresses seem to know a lot about whats on the menu and always take time out to explain things if needed. The quality of the... read more

It was our first visit last Friday. It seems a popular place - was busy when we visited, and service reflected this - rather slow. Food overall was ok - the pate was a little bland though - lacked flavour. Wouldn't be averse to visiting again but have to say it didn't 'wow' us which to be honest surprised us... More

Visited this restaurant on a business visit. Oh dear..... Expected far more. Very pleasant surroundings, pleasant service, but the food was so disappointing. My mushroom starter was luke warm, a very watery garlic sauce with very little flavour. The steak was very chewy and inedible again served with a very watery mustard sauce. The vegetables were pleasant, but I've never... More

We always look forward to a visit here. The only thing better is when you have a reservation at another restaurant (shall remain nameless) and you turn up to find its not open. (don't know whats going on there). So we trudged around town and thought its worth a long shot, we'll try Wonky. We arrived and it was packed.... More

I dined here on a recent business trip with a large group. The restaurant has a bistro feel and is decorated nicely. I found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The food was good but not great. (My pulled pork was overcooked.) I heard good things about the restaurant before I dined here, and it was pretty good in... More

First visit to the Wonky Table. Food really good but service awful, the waitress had no idea how to serve wine or deal with customers. The environment was like a french bistro which we really enjoyed. The toilet smelt of sewers which was offputting. We expect to go back but would hope the servers could be trained and the wine... Very nice and cosy restaurant. Great service and delicious wine (I had Malbec). My steak was delicious and the vegetables were perfectly cooked including dauphinois potatoes to die for. Would definitely go back. The bread and dips were excellent On the critical side the starter mushrooms were watery, and the squid was lukewarm, and my creme in the creme brulee... More

Good atmosphere, good food and good service. A little disappointed some of the items on the menu had already gone like the samosas. The bill was a nice surprise and I will be going back !!

We tried to book for Valentine's dinner and unsurprisingly they were fully booked! So instead we came for lunch. The menu was current, with a nice selection of foods and dishes to make your mouth water. We ordered halloumi paninis with homemade chips and it was delish. Restaurant was nicely decorated with a good atmosphere. Food was quick to arrive... More
