We found the place by accident while looking for somewhere to eat. We followed a signpost and stumbled upon a huge, old building in a remote village - the Coopers Arms. It was big, old, interesting, in an unusual location and very busy. It was dominated by a carvery that was very ordinary, not particularly good and expensive when compared with other... More

We have visited this place about 10 times in the last 4 years. Love the building and exterior. The food has been a bit of a let down over the years. It's great that they make their own Yorkshire puddings but it's been hit and miss. Sometimes it's ok but other times is been terrible, we've had tasteless carveries and... More

Visited with my family. My first impression was all good and this continued. The pub is set in nice grounds with a fishing lake that is viewed from the conservatory dining. We arrived and were encouraged to go to the bar (with period fire place) for a drink while a table was organised. After a 15 minute wait we were... More

I went with a group of friends to the Coopers Arms for lunch. They seem to be known for the Carvery which most people went for but complained a little about the price structure. I am a vegetarian and there was no veggie option at the Carvery and only one choice other than sandwiches on the al a carte menu.... More

I used to go to The Coopers Arms fairly regularly about 15 years ago but only ever used the bar. I only decided to try the food earlier this month and found it to be a little bit 'hit and miss'. The staff are great, and the surroundings are spectacular, but the lunchtime carvery we had was at best, no... More

We`ve not been for about 12 months but delighted to find the standard and choice of food are still excellent. I`m fascinated by this historic building and it`s idyllic setting by a pretty lake. The carvery restaurant offers a great choice, but check out the contents of the red casserole dishes before you decide. I was delighted to find they... More

Visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a couple of co-workers. I'd never heard of it. It sounded good and i wanted somewhere nice to take my husband to celebrate his birthday. We didn't have the carvery, but chose from the a la carte menu. The potted pulled pork and apricot pate was to die for! My hubby had what... More

This not a typical carvery you have to select what you want from the carvery before you go down. The place is very popular and you always need to book but personally I find it pretty average for the price. Food from the carvery isn't particularly hot and some of the vegetables appear to have been under the lights for... More

This pub/restaurant our monthly lunch club visited in May 2014, we found it good value for money and a varied menu including vegetarian selections.

Became a regular. Yesterday I had a carvery with an old, wealthy friend I've known since school. Dropped him off at the train station and went back in the evening. A barmaid asked if I had paid for my carvery I had. I said my friend did. Surprised. I'd been a regular for months and hundreds of carveries were served.... More
