Live Jazz a Bonus

With friends visiting from London for the weekend I wanted them to experience an independent restaurant with some character. HB has bags of character and the fact that they have live jazz, featuring local musicians, 6 nights a week is a real bonus. We started the evening in the Coach & Horses (of... read more

Having booked a table for eight previously we visited on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was fully booked and staff seemed very busy. Unfortunately our table was by the main door and very drafty for those on our table nearest to it. My starter of prawn and salmon was delicious but I wish that I had left then because my... More

The premises are a bit on the old fashioned side, and that seems to be deliberate. We had an early bird menu which was very good value, and the service was quick and the food of a good standard

My partner and myself were visiting Harrogate for the day and was walking past and thought the place looked inviting so ventured in. We were lucky they had a table available and was quickly seated. We both ordered the Sunday lunch which I have to say pretty amazing from the tasty and tender meat to the most amazing tasting carrots... More

We called in early Friday evening so managed to get a table. Loved the decor, the staff were efficient and friendly, and the food was great. The background jazz was a pleasant change, followed by live jazz from 8.30. The place had a real buzz to it, and we'll definitely eat here again next time we visit Harrogate - though... More

Stayed here for one night, stayed in the garden room. Room was clean and had a lovely bathroom, needed a few fixes here and there though, room was situated right underneath the kitchen so was very noisy till at least 11.30 that evening!! Started again at 6 in the morning!! Very little sleep!! All staff were genuinely friendly and helpful except... More

We were spending a weekend in Harrogate and were recommended to eat in this place by the owners of our residence. We were not disappointed with a lovely older fashioned eatery not like the moderns with flashy shiny metal and loads of glass! The food was excellent and served by very friendly staff. We had a bonus with being serenaded... More

Visited early doors (Thursday) after booking earlier in the week - be prepared to be disappointed if you 'cold call' as it is often very busy. Shown promptly to our table and a drinks order was taken within a couple of minutes of us sitting down. Very nice choices on the menu and specials board - oh the agony of... More
