The local trout was to die for and the lobster thermidor was excellent. The staff were efficient and welcoming.

This is the second time we have visited the Drum since it changed ownership - and we were not disappointed! The food is still top-notch and service magnificent. We were a party of 6 friends and family, with 3 small children in prams (not the Drum's usual demographic!) and were accommodated exceptionally well. Thank you for a lovely lunch -... More

We found this fish restaurant by accident, but were very pleased with it. Rather an interesting ambiance - I think the place has previously been a pub and the long bar is still in evidence. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. The menu was not extensive, but there was a good choice and everything was obviously very fresh. Their... More

Had a fabulous impromptu meal here in this place that is great for seafood! Decor is enchanting as is the menu and the service is great. Fantastic wine menu, but then again there is lots of choice in Harrogate! Looking forward to our next visit when in the North!

We had good views from our table in the window. For lunch we shared a bowl of hot seafood, with bread and a mixed salad. This was followed buy treacle tart and summer pudding. The meal was rounded off with espressos. Everything was very good, including friendly and efficient service. Our only compaint is that they have full-cream milk; we... More

Lovely hot food and good friendly service. The hand cut chips are especially good. Also, a really good wine list.

Just had a superb lunch at this restaurant, a much delayed return visit after several years. The food and service were excellent, had a prawn starter and lobster with garlic and butter. Thoroughly enjoyed both the meal and the ambience, downstairs in one of the window tables. We were a party of 4, all having different starters and mains. All... More

I visited the Drum and Monkey on a Friday evening. It was busy by 7pm and the atmosphere was good. I had King scallops on sourdough bread - absolutely amazing, I would go back again just for that. For main course I had the hot shellfish bowl, with lots of different shellfish. They happily gave me enough bread to dip... More

This venerable Harrogate institution seemed to lose its way a little in recent years, however based on a visit last week it is definitely back on track. First rate oysters and gratinated queen scallops were highlights amongst the starters. A lobster thermidor main was prepared in an unusual manner - quite dry, with very little sauce - but was absolutely... More
