En route to Northumberland. We followed the brown sign for lunch - what a delight, lovely warm and friendly welcome. Great menu choice. Cauliflower and cheese soup was lovely, so thick, creamy and tasty - I had it with a nice ham sandwich. My husband had the seabass special - one of the best he has had - this is... More

Dear Ann W, its good to hear that the Brown Sign works! Thank you for your kind comments and I am very pleased that you enjoyed your meal with us - the fish special changes weekly but the seabass is a popular choice. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Regards Jon More

Had the pleasure of lunch at the Hare & Hounds again on a recent visit to nearby Wetherby and Harrogate. Certainly worth a detour if you're a food lover. Being a (partial) veggie, its hard to find good variations on pub menues. The salmon starter was HUGE .... great value but I couln'd fit a pudding in (will have to... More

We found this restaurant by chance on Easter sunday. I had onion soup followed by fish pie. My wife had onion soup followed by pork roast. This was probably the best Sunday lunch pub meal we have ever had. Absolutely delicious. Beautiful pub and location. 4 star not 5 only because pork crackling was missing. But my wife only realised... We have been for an evening meal with friends which was amazing, so decided to try Sunday Lunch, the food was gorgeous and the staff were friendly and helpful. I can't fault any aspect of the meal in anyway, it is well worth a visit.

As usual there was a warm welcome, at this traditional public house. The food was excellent, same quality as evening meals. Freshly cooked fish and chips, beautifully chunky white fish and hand cut chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce, yummy. all this and great value too. It is so refreshing to find somewhere that sells real food these days.... More

Enjoyed Sunday lunch here with a last minute booking for a family lunch following a Birthday party the previous evening. Pleasant staff and efficient service in this 'local' with a homely feel. The fish special of scallops, prawns, bacon and black pudding was splendid.

Went for a Sunday lunch with my wife on 30th November and wasn't disappointed at all! The food was a very good standard and plentiful. We both went for Beef. I like my meat pink but my wife prefers it cooked through, the staff catered for both of our requests without any fuss. A quick mention for the Sticky Toffee... More

Had the pleasure of popping by the Hare and Hounds on a second visit. The Sunday lunch was yummy, and considering I am a fussy eater, they have to go some to impress. Excellent food, great staff and a very warm welcoming pub. The menu has a great choice but you'd travel a long way (which I did) to find... More
