Good coffee, good food, interesting shopping, plenty of parking, historical setting, & al fresco dining when weather permits.

The leaflets and brochures certainly oversell .. this lovely building has it all, charm, character and potential but just does not deliver ... its stuck in a time warp and does not know if it wants to be a cheapie pound store or an up market attraction, sadly it delivers none ... the staff are lovely and very helpful ...... Choice of 2 types of sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, a choice of sponge cakes and a pot of tea. Excellent value at £15 for 2. Traditionally served on a 3 tier cake stand. They will box up anything you can't eat for you to take away. Have also had lunches here and they have been good as... More

We came for a quick lunch. The waiting staff didn't seem to pay much attention, as we had to really intervene to persuade anyone to address and seat us, and when our order came they had brought the wrong kind of bread for our sandwiches and forgotten to bring us chips. We asked after the chips and rather than admit... More

Not pleased at this place. Very slow service and when they eventually the waitress came around she was quite offhand and most of the items on the menu were not available. For three cups of tea and a slice of cake it was quite expensive.

The portion sizes were just right and the interesting arrangement of the chips raised a smile. Not overseasoned and good value for money.

As with many of your reviewers, we had a Groupon voucher for a 2 course lunch for 2 people, we had booked in advance for a Saturday lunchtime as this was the only time we could get there. Arrived on time and presented our voucher to the restaurant reception, we were quickly shown to our reserved table, we weren't shown... More
