We visited this pub for a drink last night and thoroughly enjoyed the quirkiness, especially with the gas lamps. We went into the bar on the right hand side which seemed a lot busier than the bar on the left, it also had a good atmosphere. There was a good choice of real ales. The staff were friendly. We didn't... More

Never having been to Harrogate before (only 1 hour away from us) we were surprised how large a town this was. Having spent over an hour looking for somewhere to eat we stumbled across Hales Bar which is apparently the oldest in the town. We both had the sizzler dishes, 1 gammon and 1 steak along with onion rings and... More

We visited Hales Bar during a recent visit. It was a traditional pub with a very welcoming feeling. It stocked a wide range of drinks at ressonable prices. It also played a wide variety of background music. It had a very homely feel. Definitely worth a visit.

Every time my wife and I visit Harrogate, we seek out this lovely old pub. The atmosphere really is unique, and the welcome from the staff is always good. OK, so one room is just like any other pub, but the main bar is really atmospheric and well worth searching for.

Staff was so friendly. We were with our daughter, so they told us we had to go to the "family" side of the pub, which was just fine with us because it was actually much more charming than the other side. Very cute decor. One of our favorite little pit stops in Harrogate.

Our friends brought us here before our meal booked elsewhere. Loved the real ale selection and tried the Hales Bar own branded along with a tasty blonde. The service was perfect for the venue and the place was buzzing with many eating hearty plates of mains.

Interesting venue but not geared up to serve food to large groups. Good beers and nice atmosphere. The main bar is very old and has some vintage decorations and Gas Lamps
