Great atmosphere

Olde worlde pub with great atmosphere, great music and good cask ales. Centrally situated, expect to probably have to stand as limited seating but great venue.

Stopped off for a couple of beers and lunch in the middle of a harrogate treasure trail. Very pleased we did. Unusual pub with gaslights on the bar as a feature. Good selection of ales and food was home cooked and very tasty. As other reviewers have mentioned staff were very friendly and we (myself, my wife and 11 yo)... More

Great atmospheric pub lit with gas lamps (burners) Very friendly and welcoming bar staff Bit pricy at £4 pint of draught cider but well worth a visit.

I was alone as my wife was at a conference. I was made very welcome. The beer is good, from smaller brewers. The wine was fine, and cheap, and the food was excellent

We both had the steak pie, chips, veg and gravy. At first we were unimpressed as the presentation was a bit plain but the pie was excellent and we left stuffed. Ate in the newer Vaults room: much quieter than the main bar.

When out with friends we called into Hales Bar and what a great bar this is! Cosy, comfortable and relaxing. The barman Alex was very helpful, pleasant and approachable. I would recommend this bar to locals and visitors. We will definitely be returning.
