Drinks with friends

When out with friends we called into Hales Bar and what a great bar this is! Cosy, comfortable and relaxing. The barman Alex was very helpful, pleasant and approachable. I would recommend this bar to locals and visitors. We will definitely be returning.

Let's face it - a weekend of conference hotel breakfasts and ceremonial receptions leaves you hungry and soulless. Knowing this, my brother recommended Hales to us (thanks, Pete.) Tucked away behind The Pump Room Museum, Hales has a quiet frontage, easy to miss, which would be a shame. To the left is the more refined bar, painted in hues reminiscent... More

My friends & I called here about a month ago when in the area & what a welcome we got. The owner couple Neil & Amanda were lovely hosts & knew our home town area so lots of chat was had, the bar team were extremely friendly as were the locals. Can't wait to return to this great bar, keep... More

Great pub, full of character. Good selection of ales and friendly staff. As to some of the comments, too dark etc. Read the pubs description before you turn up and whinge.

Went a couple of times. Great beer and service. We went there for Sunday lunch with children. They don't have a separate children's menu but were more than happy to do smaller portions. Bit of a wait for food but worth it!

Good beer in a very olde worlde setting. Claims to be the oldest pub in Harrogate (and the seats do seem to support this claim!) with a range of antique items throughout the bar. Probably a little too busy with such artefacts, and certainly they wouldn't be to everyone's taste. Worth at least one visit while you're there.

We had just been for a lovely walk around Valley Park and was tempted into the Hsles bat because it was the oldest pub in Harrogate. We went in the bar on the left which was empty, ordered out drinks and then decided to take them through yo the other bar... So glad we did, what an amazing bar with... More

£4.70 for a pint, you must be joking. Barmaid complained we cut out the grand national sweepstake cut out (out of the Sun) hours before the race. My friend bought her a drink to shut her up and she pocketed it. Disgraceful!

Thank you for your review, its exceptionally rare to receive such disappointing comments. Our prices are governed by the pub company owners with inflated cost prices however having checked with our nearby competitors, Peroni to which you refer to (an imported premium product) is the same price here or less in fact than other licensed venues). With regard to my... More
