Underwhelmed

We went for a bite to eat on Weds eve as we've driven past this place so many times and the setting its in (part of the Orton Hotel) is really lovely. The bar itself is a bit dark and strangely set up, in that the bar is a corridor of slot machines, with booths behind the wall. The restaurant... read more

We used the Ramblewood for a meal when we stayed at the Orton Hall Hotel, as we only needed a snack. We found this ideal for our needs, real ale on tap was a bonus and the meal was a good standard at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Fascinating building, too, worth a wander around.

Arrived on time for our 7.30pm reservation, only to have to wait 10 minutes for a member of staff to actually come into the restaurant to show us to our table. The restaurant was devoid of staff members, not good for a busy Friday evening. Placed our orders for food and then drinks. I was amazed to find Sauvignon Blanc... More

Just had the worst fish & chips ever along with probably the worst ever pint of ale. Sorry Ramblewood your quality has fallen since our last visit 12 months ago

We went with a group of friends, some of them ordered off the menu others had carvery and I must say it's the best I've had in a long long time. The chef was friendly, service was good and overall, great value for money. We'll be back.

Friday early dinner after long day travelling down from Scotland, the service was quick and staff friendly enough. Menu is pretty basic and slightly over priced for the quality and selection. Good selection of drinks too.

Went there with my wife and 2 children, for an evening meal. We usually go during the day for lunch when the children are at school to unwind and relax. As a wheelchair user, i found it difficult to get "noticed" after being IGNORED 3 times by the bar person, when trying to order food for my family. He was... More

I used to love going to the ramblewood, but the past few visits have been really disappointing. I have given them enough chances to get it right I won't be going again unless I hear things have changed. This week I had fishcakes, which were more cake than fish. They supposedly had ginger and spring onion (I think) in, but... More
