superb flavours, a wonderfull meal

having just spent 6 weeks in India, we felt that this food was excellent. the flavours were well presented and the level of heat nicely balanced. Good and friendly service. Very nice restaurant - a more varied menu than most Indian restaurants. Better to eat upstairs than down in the bar area.

I visited this place 3 years ago it was good food and a nice atmosphere!!! but not on my last visit!! The staff were polite, but very slow 30mins to order food after asking twice!! £9.95 for a starter of 2 prawns which were over cooked!!! Portion size of the main was tiny, also I got a madras instead of... More

Food was absolutely top notch; filled with flavour, texture and colour. Really delicious. The service was completely substandard such that I won't be back.

Ate here alone one cold March evening in 2015. Situated in an old building on the main street with lots of character. Plenty of people in there despite it being midweek. The poppadoms were crisp but the accompaniments were miserly. Only three choices: mint, a thick chutney, and that really spicy one that nobody ever has more than one spoonful... More

This is an authentic and fantastic Indian restaurant, the food is consistently good (recommend the lamb bhuna ghost, amazing). The service is really great and on several occasions they have gone out of their way to accommodate me and my guests. The meat dishes are great but as my wife who's vegetarian would agree the veggie selection is vast and... More

Very nice and authentic Indian food. Excellent starters and brilliant main course. Good thing about this restaurant is that its management team continuously tries to innovate and get new dishes on the menu. Best thing I had was Carrot and Beetroot halwa.

It was our first visit to the Banyan Tree in Peterborough. We were delighted. The food was brilliant. An interesting menu, and judging by what we ate everything is so fresh, with the flavours of each dish quite specific and clear. To pick out a few things, the Bhel Puri starter was particularly lovely as was the saag murg, (chicken... More

Very average Indian restaurant lacking authentic flavour even after informing the server that we would like our food spicy. There servers not very interested in the guest across the board

Hello Nikhil I read your review with a little bit of surprise. We had checked your table several times and atleast once after each course. At no point during the meal did you let us know that the food was not hot enough for you. It would not have been any trouble at all to to create a another dish... More

We have made another visit to the Banyan Tree and yet again the food was very good. The service was excellent as usual. The beer selection is excellent. There was a hint that they were going to start serving desserts the following week. This would be a bonus.
