Let me say from the start, I like this Pub, it's one of my favourites and I go fairly regularly. But, on this occasion it fell very short. The fire in the bar was welcome and we stood choosing our meal from the specials board. I opted for monk fish tails in a cheese sauce. After a wait we were... More

9 of us went to the Cheese for Sunday Lunch, I have not dined here for some time now and I am wondering why I have left it for so long. I omitted a starter as I knew that the potions are not on the small side, but my friends ordered brie in ginger and crevetts, the fact all plates... More

We have been to the Stilton Cheese a few time now as it is a good distant to meet friends from different locations. Have alway been very pleased with our food. 11 of us went for Sunday Lunch and were not dissapointed. Yet again a lovely welcome and great food. There was one person who had the beef who said... Olde worlde ambiance. Good choice on menu, particularly fish. Four of us each had different fish serving and all were excellent. No skinny plaice here! Make sure and select the sauté potatoes, they were extra crispy and delicious. Will return.

A party of 8 friends attended on a Friday evening. We had a lovely time. The food was fresh and well prepared. The portions were very good if not a little too big! Fish was beautifully cooked. Well worth a visit. It is not a cheap meal here but you are paying for wonderfully cooked food and well presented food.

Arrived at 6pm without a booking, after consultation they said 7.30 for two so we happily waited till then over a drink in the comfortable bar area. On eating at 7.15 the service was good, the specials board provided our meal, rather than the normal menu. Sperb scallops, and a very nice place fillet. We vwere well satisfied.

We arrived to a full pub, there were a group of 15 ramblers in all having meals plus other customers too, there was a note on the board saying please be patient, I guess they were short staffed, our order of drinks and food was taken quickly though and we were showed through to the restaurant, it wasn't long before...
