I'm not one to write reviews but given my recent visits I feel I should. In August I visited with my sister for my birthday and had poor service. Given we were late in the day I accepted less than we should have expected. We went again today for Sunday dinner... Ordered the roast platter. After 45 minutes and having... More

My wife and I had a very pleasant meal at this pub. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but service was fine, the food well cooked and hot, and we enjoyed our meal. It was a lovely summer's evening so we were able to sit outside which was a bonus. I wouldn't rate the service as the fastest I've every... More

Good service & happy welcome from the staff. Drinks ordered and delivered promptly. Starters and mains ordered, starters arrived swiftly, muscle over cooked or stored under a heat lamp, lemon was dry on one side, fish cake had more mash potato than fish, should have been called a mash cake! Taste was ok ish. Mains arrived, timing just about spot... More

We turned up without a booking on Burghley horse trials weekend. We were seated in the bar area as the restaurant was fully booked. Lovely food. Would go again but perhaps would book beforehand.

I do not like giving bad reviews, but I feel that this time as I was entertaining guest I had to write. We had some Italians staying at the Marriott Hotel and wanted to take them for an English pub meal. I read the reviews "GREAT PUB LUNCH" and so we thought that we give it a go for the... More

Our party of nine had a great table in quiet section. We ordered a variety of starters and mains - fish and chips, chicken, vegetarian- all of which was uniformly good. Service was friendly and efficient. Some of the party went back for a drink a few days later.

The place is charming and full of character. The welcome was warm and friendly. The food was exquisite. Drinks were good, even the tap water came in a jug with fresh lemons, limes and strawberries. The service was excellent and attentive. We were a party of 6 on a busy bank holiday weekend night, nevertheless, the attention to us and... More

Very disappointed ! waited one hour to be served, dirty utensils,. stained chairs, the FOOD was microwaved to death, a dish of rock hard vegetables, never tried to eat them, the lamb smelt and tasted like mutton very tough, all in all £75 for uneatable food. My party from Finland could not believe we were served such food, I complained... More
