Good food nice setting

Have visited this place several times and have not had a bad meal yet, friendly staff and good service, set menu has been the same for years so could do with a slight change then would give 5 stars, but perhaps if it's not broken then don't fix it, it won't stop me going

This place is not the best place to go for a meal, I visited as for years I had heard good things about it though I found the food to be just ok, the staff were quite rude and the surroundings are really not that nice, needs a refurb fast!

Went in a party of 7 for a birthday celebration recently. Had the standard selection menue which hasn't changed much in the past 5 years. Some of the dishes were very good and some just plain ordinary. Starters pretty good, drinks OK and price for a bottle of Macon Village reasonable at £20. The second round of dishes shredded duck... We had a lovely evening at the Grain Barge, the setting was gorgeous we sat by a windiw and had a great view of the river. The staff were courteous and attentive and the food was excellent. It was great to be able to eat such nice food whilst watching the river and the swans go by.

I came with my boyfriend in this restaurant and we were really excited to eat us. the atmosphere is very nice but there were very unpleasantly in my noodle TWO cockroaches death and you can not imagine the disgust! unfortunately then a cockroach was living on my pants. I did not say anything because I do not like to make... More

On a stay in Peterborough to visit family we organised a Sat night meal out. Having last dined here in 1990 it was good to see that firstly it still operated and secondly that the food was still very good. After selecting the mixed Hors D'oeuvres to start we enjoyed some great main courses, especially the fish in mandarin sauce,... More

Recently celebrated our wedding anniversary with friends at the Grain Barge. This was about our 6th visit. Was initially disappointed to be led downstairs to eat in the restaurant below deck as have previously always liked to overlook the river. But disappointment was short lived. dining area is lovely, decorated in a a dark wood it's more spacious than on... More

So it is a little strange eating on an old barge on the river, but it was a very pleasant experience. We sat on the upper deck and 5 of us had the set menu. The food was very good quality, and the service was quick and attentive. Staff asked about food allergies, constantly checked that the meal was ok... More
