REALLY NICE

Have dined here twice in the last year and very happy all round both times. Really nice choice of food and lovely surroundings. The Bear and Swan and Pelican are definitely the best eateries in this area.

Frequently visit the bear, being a local myself the place is undoubtedly the finest restaurant/pub with in the chew valley area. Food is absolutely stunning and there home cooked chips are always a delight whether garnished with a meal or just as a passing snack. If and when I do dine here I will always go for a steak, prices... More

Went for evening meal with friends, Saturday evening. Very busy which was good, but food service very slow. Bar service very good and polite staff. We waited 1/2 hr to have our food order taken and an hour for food, table was booked for 7pm food arrived 9pm... And I was very disappointed... Ordered the lamb it was 50% fat... More

Another long wait for main courses and very disappointed with these some were not that hot. Desserts were disappointing. Overall very over priced and very very disappointing.

We returned to this venue expecting great food and a comfortable atmosphere. The food indeed lived up to expectations and was very well presented. For starters 2 of us had the potted salmon, 1 the pork terrine and 1 a mixed salad. 3 of us had the pheasant and 1the fish as mains. There was a bowl of mixed fresh... More

Went for a family meal before Christmas and was very impressed with the standard of food. Had pigeon to start and steak for main, both were cooked to perfection. Even though it was very busy, the staff were attentive and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Had an excellent lunch yesterday - tiger prawns to start and Chateaubriand (for 2 ) as the main course. Whilst it was slightly expensive, we did not complain as the quality and service were exceptional. In particular the food was cooked to perfection. The pub is Olde Style English with a good atmosphere - with friendly and obliging staff it... More

My wife and I stopped here for a drink and snack on our way home from North Somerset. Lovely pub and had been there before a number of years ago. Sorry to say we wouldnt go again. Service was ok but how can they justify charging £6.90 for a cheese sandwich ? In comparison we stopped at Chew Valley restaurant... More
