Excellent lunch!

We went here with friends who live locally and frequent this pub often so we knew it was going to be good but the food here surpassed even our high expectations and was utterly delicious. Great, well-balanced menu and by all accounts everything on it was on the 'very delicious' scale. Also welcomed... read more

What a fantastic place to eat. The place itself is full of nooks and crannys with a good ambience. Beautiful views from the back. There were four of us celebrating my daughter's birthday and we all enjoyed our food. Every course was delicious and we all cleared our plates. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend and will... More

We'd idea to treat hubby/dad to a Michelin star meal for his birthday, not been here before but would definatly return for a special occasion. Not your everyday sort of place but certainly a special treat. 5 of us ate a range of starters, mains and desserts. Rations on the home front from GBM was a favourite starter. Seabass, Grouse... I've just had the most delicious steak for lunch - at Providores Marylebone High Street. So good, that it's prompted me to get on and write a review of the terrible steak I had at the Pony and Trap two weeks ago. The occasion was my mothers 80th birthday. Our usual favourite in the area (The Epicurian) was closed for... More

I have been here before, for Sunday lunch but, this was the first time I've been here on a week day. My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays and decided a lovely lunch at a lovely venue was our choice for the day. The staff here are well trained, attentive (without being pushy), and really know their stuff, being... More

. This was our second visit to the Pony and Trap. The first one wasn't successful as three of the four of us had a Rib Eye Steak that was mostly too tough to cut (two ordered 'rare' and one ordered 'medium rare'). What we could get into our mouths was also tough and flavourless. We decided not to return... More

Really a game of two half's....... my wife's starter and main course were excellent, whilst mine was average, the desert was also really good. A classic case of choosing the wrong thing! So based on previous visits, a little bit disappointed. The service was excellent and it remains good value for money, my courses were fine for a gastro pub... More

Went to the Pony and Trap as it is local and could not get into our favourite Michelin starred restaurant in Bristol. The four of us all thought you could not fault the service and if it was listed as a high class 'gastro pub' the food was very good, but this establishment has a Michelin star and we were... More

Very excited about visiting the Pony and Trap last night. Our 20th wedding anniversary treat. After finding the door to get in (don't try the front door!) we were shown to our table with the most amazing views of the valley. Drinks ordered, water brought to the table along with a little bowl of home made crisps and dip which... More

The Pony and Trap is a local for us, and each time we go we say we should go more often. We have had lunch there quite often; the ploughman's is my benchmark for how a ploughman's lunch should be: homemade bread, great cheese and ham, a wonderful array of homemade pickles and great salad. Dinner last night was amazing;... More
