Excellent lunch

Well worth the drive out of Bristol for an excellent lunch. We had our dogs with us so we ate in the bar rather than the main restaurant, but the food and service were at the high levels that one would expect from a Michelin star. We were really looking forward to our visit, but boy did we feel let down. I can only say what we experienced but perhaps there was a different chef on. I thought for a Michelin Star the ambience of the place is all part of it, looking out at the car park doesn't do it for me. As we weren't... More

Expensive, slow service, thank goodness the food was OK, Except the roast potatoes were rock hard and tasteless. Would we go again, probably not !!

Firstly the good. This won't take long. The staff were attentive & polite. The pigeon starter was very good. Then the not so good. The staff seemed thin in the ground we had to wait longer than expected to be served on occasion but not horrendous. The pork main was disappointing. Pleasant but no wow factor. The salmon stater also... More

Great Restaurant with a very high pedigree and reputation. Had tried previously to book twice and failed and therefore really pleased when tried and managed to book a table for 3 for a business dinner. Very knowledgable and helpful staff, going out of their way to help, advise and explain the dishes. Well decorated without being fussy and over the... More

We visited The Pony and Trap for lunch today to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and left feeling full of spring. Prior to our visit Hollie called to confirm our booking, explaining she had reserved a window table with a lovely view, what a lovely touch. The waiting staff were attentive throughout service, checking our needs were fully met, giving... More

Visited on Easter Sunday with our dog and sat in the bar area. Made to feel welcome, our dog was treated to a shortbread biscuit and a bowl of water. Roast beef very special, exceptionally tender and perfectly cooked and veg accompaniments were also very good (disagree with comments below, our cauliflower cheese and potatoes were lovely). We were however... More

A warm welcome by the all-female crew, this evening. Plenty of staff on duty, meaning service was efficient. Good, fresh bread. Food lives up to the Michelin star. Our party had a mixture of veggie, fish and meat dishes and they were all excellent. Emphasis is on quality and provenance, rather than quantity. In my opinion this is what a... More

We liked the pony and trap - it's a lovely setting and the staff were fantastic, particularly with our little one. It's much more restaurant than pub as you would expect with a venue that has a star, and the food itself was very well presented and tasted good. It wasn't though anything outstanding which is perhaps what we were... More
