So much expectation....much less delivered.

We had been looking forward to visiting this Michelin starred pub for some time. The Welcome was warm, the menu interesting, the eating space a little cramped and the food 'okay'. Perhaps we'd have enjoyed it more without the Michelin star twinkling at us. But while sauces and 'fiddly bits' were... read more

Have booked a table this coming Saturday, quite an early slot. Was told I need to be out by 8.30. Fair enough, and understood. Then get a call today to ask me to "confirm the reservation" - I have. This reminded me of a few years ago when I wanted to book a table at Rick Stein's restaurant in Padstow.... More

The starters were interesting and definitely out of the ordinary. (I had parsley soup with ham hock and onion confit.) I chose 'crispy risotto' for my entrée which was actually balls of rice with breadcrumbs. (I think they're called 'aroncini.') They tasted of very little and frankly could have come from Iceland. Lots of lovely vegetables were a definite plus.... More

My daughter booked a table for Sunday lunch at this popular pub as she had heard such good things about the food. We were 30 minutes late due to traffic and we rang to apologise as we knew lunch was in a 2 hour slot, which they did remind us of - politely though. The roast dinner was so good... More

We are occasional visitors here, and haven't been let down yet We had another fantastic lunch here, food superbly cooked and presented and I would highly recomend. Sticky Ale Pudding is a must!

Having tried to get a booking for a couple of special occasions and failed, we were pleased when my husband was able to book this for my birthday. Starters were good, but the steak that I ordered rare came as medium. The waiting staff agreed and offered to replace it, but as we didn't want to have to wait for... More

Have visited a few times now for Sunday lunch and dinner and every time the service is excellent, the pub is cosy and warm and the food is incredible.

Cannot believe the good reviews after two visits to the Pony and Trap. Should not have given them benefit of the doubt and gone back. Staff attentive and friendly but food very poor. I had a mediocre steak and fatty chips with vegetables which were greasy and unpalatable.

I took my boyfriend to The Pony & Trap for a belated Valentine's Day lunch. Even before we arrived at the restaurant, we were enchanted by the countryside around Chew Magna. It was wonderful then to find that the Pony & Trap embraces the countryside, both by affording stunning views over rolling hills (if you are sitting in the lower... More
