I paid for drinks with a 50 Euro note. The bartender gave me back change for as though it were a 10 Euro note. I am sure he pocketed the 50 and put a 10 in the till. Shame on me for not creating a scene, but a foreigner in a local pub is not a strong position to be... More

if you're after an authentic Irish pub then this is the place for you. For some reason the Guiness seemed to taste better here - must have been the atmosphere! The seating isn't the most comfortable, being mainly stools and benches. The covered outside area is wasted as it's where the smokers congregate. Good lively and not "deafening" music. Free... More

Cities oldest tavern and one of Ireland's oldest pubs. Entertaining local talent completed our irish evening experience. We only had drinks as we had already eaten but were glad we ended our evening at Doolans!

After a few trial and errors, Doolans became my favourite place to go out while in Waterford! Great music, very friendly staff and always a lovely buzz! It is a great example of what our pubs are really like, and they have good music on. Love the outdoor area, one of my favourite in Waterford. Haven't tasted the food so... More

The staff was very inviting The food must have been fine; I just really remember how great the staff was with directions and information and joking and having a fun time with their job and with all the customers, not just us.

This is supposed to be the oldest pub in Waterford and it looks it.Isit necessary to have it as run down as it is with poor seating over priced drink served by a barman who will certainly become the face of hospitality for the Gathering.

I was down at the biker festival in Waterford in July and went here for a few drinks during the day. The outdoor seating area was great in the warm weather to sit and have a few drinks. I went back later to watch the hurling match and the inside is really nice too - great atmosphere there. Place is... More

When your evening at the pub starts out with sing along Irish songs, you know you're in a tourist bar. None the less, the staff was friendly, the pints tasty, and the atmosphere very conducive to meeting your fellow travelers.

Good atmosphere, & friendly, helpful bar staff. Good range of beers, including Metalman, a straw coloured craft ale. Live music later on in the evening, geared particularly for the visitors, but hey!!! Interesting ancient building which gives the impression of having been there for centuries - which indeed it has!!

The pint of guiness here is flat and tasteless and the food average. We ate here as a group and one persons order was forgot and they ended up with nothing! Avoid
