What a great café/restaurant/shop! Ate there twice and visited shops also for take-away cakes. Can recommend the goats cheese, walnut and blackberry salad, the raspberry coconut cakes, chocolate pistachio brownies and the bakewell tarts. Everything is made on the premises and is wonderful. Shells overlooks a massive surfing beach - perfect!

Gosh. We were spoiled. Fabulous chicken and mayo sandwiches with real crusty loaf, freshly prepared...... And then carrot cake to die for!

Visited Shells Cafe on three occasions when staying in Sligo. Not only is the view of the beach and sea amazing the food is excellent. Plenty of staff for such a small place, friendly and helpful. Food arrived quite quickly and very tasty. It was clean and very busy with locals, which is always a good sign. They have specials... More

Heard so much about this restaurant I knew when I was in Sligo I would have to try there food. The food was very fresh, and the services was very prompt once you were seated. They have a good selection catered for all kinds of needs. Bread was like cake you would eat it all night.

Although the food is ok, the place really could do with a good clean at this stage. Everything feels a bit greasy and dirty and tired. Cakes and desserts sit uncovered next to the cash register. Ugh. Some of the waiting staff seem to wear their uniform/tshirt no matter how dirty it is. I appreciate the surf cafe chic vibe... More

Have been to shells about 4 times now. On every occasion have been greeted with pleasant and capable staff who know their job. Would recommend the fish and chips as they are beautiful. However I myself am not as mad on the rest of the menu. It is a bit limiting and taste wise not extraordinary. Nevertheless, it is of... More

Food and service were top notch. Small cafe on the beach in Strand Hill. Had lunch here and all dishes were given thumbs up by this family of 4 hungry travellers. The coffees/lattes/hot chocolates were well received on a cold rainy day.

We love Shells. We've been several times and have always found the food to be really lovely- clearly home cooked with skill and with good quality ingredients. The kids options are good (though a few more veg wouldn't go amiss) and the drinks are particularly special- try the ice tea or raw juices. The shop next door sells fresh produce... More

We ate a few times while staying in Strandhill, at different times so sampled across the menu. We loved it, the staff were accommodating and relaxed. All the food we had was delicious, and the coffee is great. Everything is great quality and fresh, couldn't fault it.

We went to the cafe post our Surfing lesson and were really delighted with the service and food. It has a New England/Cath Kidson vibe to it and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Two of us went for the fish and chips and one for the prawn and chorizo, both excellent dishes and we were ready for licking... More
