A great stop along Westport Bay

Out along they quay in Westport, the Helm offers very good seafood as well as something for landlubbers. Often featuring some trad music in the evenings. Have a beer at one of the tables outside and watch the sunset.

Excellent fresh fish. Staff are very attentive. The atmosphere was that of an old pub which it is. Full of locals so they must be good. We got a table for two instantly on a Tuesday evening, but I think booking, especially on the week end is advisable.

The Quay area of Westport is still coming out of the recession. Several pubs are boarded up and/or for sale, and my favorite has stopped serving food. By contrast, there are some slightly ritzy-looking restaurants, with prices to match. Where to eat? Fortunately, after walking up and down the Quay, we followed the advice of the barman-at-the-pub-that-longer-sells-food, and went to... More

Visited restaurant with friends. Steak done to perfection. Starter amazing. Great atmosphere in the place combining a bar area and restaurant all under one roof. Love restaurants that can pull off both. This does it. Top it all off with friendly staff and live music. First place I'd visit if back in westport again..

Nice place with great food and atmosphere. In a newer area by Westport harbor. We had a light lunch after climbing Croagh Patrick.

We stopped in here for our lunch after driving down from Dublin and I can honestly say the fish and chips I had was the nicest and freshest I have ever eaten. I'd heartily recommend it!

We ate lunch here recently as a family of 5. The food was mediocre at best. Plenty of options but virtually non existent healthy options. Main courses were 11.50 for adult portions. Average pub grub is the best description I can give it.

The food in the Helm was excellent and although we had ordered the mussels as a starter , it... More

We stayed in Apt 6b for one night. The accommodation was spacious, warm, clean & comfortable. We decided to eat in the resturaunt in the bar. On the advice of the waitress, Trish, we opted for the Hake & the Black Sole. The quality & the presentation of the meal was excellent & the efficient yet friendly service provided by... More
