I booked this restaurant for Valentines night, having heard good things. When we got there the place was locked up. There were no signs explaining why, nobody had contacted me to say they would not be honouring my reservation, even though they had taken my number twice. My partner and I got dressed up, dropped into the city specially, and... More

Had heard great reviews about the Red Onion. Went for a late dinner with a large group. Food was average. Had a selection of fish which was far from fresh. Service was atrocious. A waitress served us and it felt like a huge chore for her. Don't think I'd be back

I visited this restaurant with a friend, I was pleasantly surprised by the use of space for a start. It had always been my opinion that the below street vaulting in this city isn't used to its full potential, but this place has changed my mind on that. The atmosphere created by the beautiful blend of rustic old stonework with... More

Was back again to enjoy another fab meal at the Red Onion. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. The choice is big, so there is always something different to choose from with every visit. But you will always have your favourites. Mine is the Curry. I don't eat veg but oh my god, I am eating vegetables that I would... More

I visited the Red Onion on Saturday, 7th December with two other friends for our Xmas night out. We were told that the only menu available on the night was the xmas menu of 6 courses for E35.00. The staff were very friendly but lacked experience and need training. One of the waiters had to check his notes for the... More

I went for dinner with my girlfriend in this place early one saturday afternoon in september 2013. We were greeted by one of the owners fathers who was working there part time (like a head waiter, i think his son was at a munster match that day and he was covering). when we arrived the place was completely empty except... We went early in the evening as we had to be elsewhere in a short space of time. We were the first customers of the evening and received a very warm welcome. The restaurant was lovely and warm - we were put sitting close to a radiator which on a cold evening was welcoming. Order was taken without fuss. There... More
