Great time with locals

This is a local pub with no touristy flair. Listened to irish music and chatted with the locals. Fun!

wandered in our first day can Kilkenny and love the atmosphere of this unpretentious old city bar. Friendly staff and customers, great selection of tap beers. Listened to a local Irish band Rusty Springs who were fantastic. Returned a second night to hear Rusty Springs again and sample great local beer.

Walking by The Field and heard some amazing singing coming from within so my husband and I went in for a few drinks and to listen to the music. John, the owner was very welcoming and the atmosphere was great. We had a wonderful night and I would highly recommend going along.

The service was quick and friendly and the food was very tasty. We were on a timeline with a tour group and appreciated the quick meal without even asking. The price was about 20 euros for soup and sandwich for 2 as well as a pint of Kilkenny each. Live music every day starting at 3:00. I'm sorry we couldn't... More

We stumbled upon The Field after touring Kilkenny Castle. Five adults in our party. We ordered beer and food. Great service. Very good pub food. Portions were good size. Friendly service. John was funny and informative. Music was mostly traditional Irish with a few American songs mixed in. I will go back on my next visit to Kilkenny.

Spotted in for a bite mid afternoon. I had a black angus steak. Cooked to perfection. The erode had a burger. Great food and service. Surprised to hear live trad music during the day.

Decent Chowder. Decent service. Nice smattering of nostalgic sports memorabilia all over the place. Tastefully done. Good nostalgic tunes as well. Out of the blue they played Neil Sedaka's Calendar Girl. It literally felt like I was eating a chowder in an episode of RTE's Reeling in the Years which was almost exactly what I needed at the precise moment.... More

The low point of a trip to Kilkenny. This restaurant to be avoided. We were attracted in by the "extensive children's menu" on their lunch board only to be presented with 3 choices. Our safe order for our two year old of chicken and fries turned up a refried chicken lumps and chunky chips. Inedible and we refused to pay.... More
