I was surprised to be told that only old folks order Smithwick's. I figured, when in Rome? Lol. Great staff and wonderful locals. Had a great time. (Summer 2013)

This has got to be the worst Sports Bar in Ireland. I was in Kilkenny this morning, Sunday 28th Dec., and a very good friend recommended The Field Pub as probably the best place to watch Man Utd vs Spurs. Both TV's were on but there was no commentary as the two bar girls had music, which they were singing... More

We visited Kilkenny Castle on a rainy day. The Field is just down the road from the castle. The Field was full downstairs so we were shown to their upstairs area, where we sat at a window where we had a great view of the busy street. The Pub is quite charming with lots of history and pictures on the... More

Spent an hour or two in The Field with a group of friends and had a great time. Having left another nearby premises swearing blind I'd never return, we were met with friendly, courteous, welcoming and mannerly bar staff. We had to pleasure of meeting the owner and he too was as welcoming as the staff. The bar itself was... More

Dear Reviewer we must challenge you on this review as from the end of September each year we shorten our menu to suit winter slow down. We first of all do not serve steak sandwiches and have not served steak since the end of September. Due to the complaint received by you this could not have happened. We do not... More

We were in Kilkenny the week before the Hurling All Ireland between Kilkenny and Tipperary and it was all about the rivalry! :) We were told that The Field had the world's largest hurling stick hanging in the bar so we had to go and see it before we left Kilkenny but it was always packed!!!! Finally we were able... More
