I absolutely love this restaurant.... I tried both the one in kilkenny city and in Thomastown kilkenny and both are Devine. Food is so fresh and tasty, flavours are delicious. A must try..

Cafe Sol is refreshingly free of pretentious foodie blah. Just a great relaxed place to eat. May need to book. They have another restaurant - Bistro Sol - in Thomastown which I'd also recommend

We are fairly regular customers in Cafe Sol in Kilkenny more so for lunch than dinner at night. Must say its always very good but I often notice that there is a lot of fish and pasta which I don't particularly like. I would like to see more meat on the menu and maybe a variety of salad during the... More

I was again in Cafe Sol tonight with my wife and two friends. Our meals were again perfect and the service top class.

Had a meal with 10 of our family there last Friday night, great food, wine overpriced plonk and wham a 10% service charge on our bill without informing us of it. which was quite substantial, I felt it was unfair to slap this on the bill at the end considering we were bringing more business to the restaurant then the... Visited on a very wet and cold evening, having made a reservation. We thought the menu a little un-inspired and fish was not available, but the meal was well prepared and served. It may well be that the restaurant is more vibrant with more diners, there were only two other tables occupied with ours, but we felt somewhat underwhelmed by... More

Nice meal on a quiet street. The food was well prepared and presented. The restaurant needs some softening decor or more subtle lightening for evening dining. Staff a tad casual. Not bad though.

Cafe sol is always my go to suggestion for casual dining in Kilkenny. A little of the beaten track, it is ideal for couples, family, or relaxed catch ups with friends. Zero presence of hen parties! The service is great, the manager is clearly present and attentive and the food is well executed with a great variety on the menu! Wine... More

Excellent food - there were 6 of us, and we had a variety of menu choices. And, gluten free is no problem for the chef! It was by far the best meal we had in our 8-day visit to Ireland.

Visiting Kilkenny for the day, our B&B landlady recommended this restaurant and it was spot on. It was a Sat eve so booking was advised - our lovely landlady did this. Its quite central in Kilkenny City and easy to park in a nearby car park, free in the evening. The restaurant had a good range of bistro style food,... More
