Great Food and great staff

Went to Sol midweek with another couple and their daughter. We were made to feel very welcome and appreciated from the beginning. We took their advice on food and were greatly appreciative of the choices on offer and the quality of the food. I had Tagine and a member of our group , Lebanese, tasted... read more

We came to town to visit the castle and it was closed for a visit by the PM of Ireland! Today was saved by a delicious lunch at Café Sol! Café Sol is a bright sunny space just off of high Street. I enjoyed the hake with potatoes and green verbs While my wife had a chicken dish pasta of... More

Two of us went for a quick lunch here. We had been a number of times before so were confident of a good standard. We had no reservation but were warmly welcomed and seated quickly. The menu had plenty of options and we chose the smoked trout salad (main course size) and fish cakes. The service was friendly but pretty... More

Back in Kilkenny and very keen to revisit Cafe Sol. Our expectations were well founded, we had another superb meal and the wine and staff were equally as good. Ran out of nights otherwise we would have been back again, but we will look forward to our next visit. A must for anyone who enjoys great food.

We had an excellent lunch here while visiting Kilkenny. My wife had the vegetarian "nut roast" and it was excellent, rich and flavorful. I had their daily pasta special which was a penne pasta with three types of fish and a creamy tomato sauce. Good but not exceptional. For a starter we had their smoked trout salad which was beyond... You will be amazed by the food in cafe sol.. So tasty, well presented and menus just a little different to your normal run of the mill restaurant. This one stands out. Lovely for. Special occasion or just a quite night out with your partner or friends. The only negative would be that maybe they are trying to squeeze too... More

Lovely restaurant. 2 veggie options that thankfully weren't pasta or goats cheese based dishes that seem to dominate the veggie options on restaurant menus . I opted for a roasted veg and warm bulgar wheat salad that was really tasty. The other option was a nut roast. We had a falafel starter that too was good. The kids were well... More

My partner and I are in Ireland for a family event tomorrow and as it's valentines day today we booked Sol Bistro to eat out together tonight. We were highly impressed. The atmosphere firstly is very friendly yet professional. Not stuffy or pretentious yet staff not in your face either. The balance was just right. There was no highly priced... More

The food was excellent and so was the service. We ordered the steak and the venison and loved both. The chocolate cheesecake for dessert was also delicious!
