Ate in the bar. I had a Caesar salad and OH had roast beef. Roast beef very poor. Caesar salad somewhat better. With so many lovely places to eat in Kilkenny Lanigan's need to up their game. Disappointing.

Came for drinks and food and left unfulfilled. Food was mediocre even for a pub. My dish probably had a whole onion in it. My wife's steak had no seasoning. Ordered cocktails, don't bother. My drink was made poorly and was not drinkable. For some reason instead of just remaking it they got all weird about it. Bartender called the... More

We stopped in Kilkenny while on a tour and saw this place had some soup my wife likes (tomato basil). Irish football was on TV so it was cool to hang out and watch some sports while eating some food. The food may have been the best I had in all of Ireland (pork roast).

Visited this hotel for an evening meal. Their seafood chowder starter is a must have. Contained everything but the Anchor. The mixed grill was fab. A great pint of Guiness. The grub was so good we dined here on both nights. Friendly staff.

Had proper pints of Guinness (felt a bit guilty because Kilkenny is home to its own beer producers) and a basket of fried stuff. Not haute dining, but that wasn't the point. The bartender was alone and overburdened, which meat slow service. Overall, a good place for a pint.

Had the fish and chips and shepherd's pie. Both were good and service was quick. The atmosphere is nice, several paintings of owner's grandfather, Dick Lanigan, who knew and played with Michael Hogan (killed by the British on Bloody Sunday). Overall nice pub.

This place wasn't bad... but it didn't blow me away either. Small, cozy bar, mostly dedicated to hurling (This is NOT Lacrosse!!!) We met here for the Ghost tour, which I definitely recommend (especially for history buffs), but otherwise, just a pub! The servers were very nice, the bartenders sang to all of the songs from the performers. We had... More
