Surprisingly good food

Kytelers is a Kilkenny must see, so we did. Even in mid afternoon, the place was busy with locals and tourists alike. The atmosphere is great, very historic and entertaining. We enjoyed the food so much, we returned for lunch the next day as well.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon, the service was very slow, even seating us took a long time. When we were eventually seated, it didn't feel as though there was much attention paid to us and I can't say the waiting staff were very friendly either. The food itself was lovely, but as soon as we had finished our food, the... More

Over priced lunch menu. Had vol au vents as my main course as did 3 others in the group. Very small portion size. Another in our party had salad as main. Very small again. Went up to pay after lunch. Stood at bar counter for at least 5 minutes. When paying, the lady behind the counter was the most ignorant... More

Food is really nice and reasonable priced, this place is very deceiving from the entrance the bar area looks small and cosy but this pub is massive got another bar and restaurant downstairs also a large conservatory area with big screen to and small bar area, worth a visit.

What a great place with so much history. Enjoyed a bowl of traditional Irish Stew and a pint for lunch and then returned in the evening for live music. The music, food and people were all wonderful. The singers asked the audience where they were from and all of the world was pretty much covered!! Obviously a great tourist destination,... More

One of Ireland's oldest inns with a tale about Dame Alice de Kyteler who was accused of witchcraft! The staff are very friendly and you are assured of a warm welcome. The Irish stew was very good as was the Guiness. You can get smaller portions as well as standard. The food is not of the restaurant variety but good... More

We had lunch here on a Thursday afternoon, and it was very quiet so lacked a bit of atmosphere. Lunch was lovely, and the guy who served us was great. We didn't get time to come back to see music or anything so can only comment on lunch.

Just a quick stop on a stroll around Kilkenny. Having done the Kilkenny Ghost tour the night before and finding out some of the history of the pub we decided to stop in for a pint. The food smelled good the minute you walked inside the door so although not planning on having lunch we decided to share some chicken... More

Great historical pub. Friendly and efficient staff. Biergarten in back or inside tables. The dining area in basement are unique setting - you can feel the history.
