Description: Ard Bia at Nimmos restaurant in Galway City enjoys one of Galways...
Ard Bia at Nimmos restaurant in Galway City enjoys one of Galways most romantic locations in a gorgeous upstairs room with lovely views of the river, hard by the Spanish Arch. This restaurant is famous in Galway and beyond for the stupendous quality of its cuisine and its professional and welcoming service, all in a charming setting. The dcor is rustic boho chic with quirky details. You might find fresh local garden blooms on your table in a tin coffee pot, for instance. The seasonally-changing Irish/Moroccan/North African eclectic menu blows you away with dishes like the Gubeen antipasto dish, all made with the finest and freshest of local ingredients. Ard Bias commitment to live and modern art make it a happening place, though if you just want to come for the great food and service and see why the restaurant won Regional Restaurant of the Year from Food & Wine Magazine, no one will mind.

Outstanding food!

Nimmo's is right on the water near the museum. (Cross the road at the bottom of Quay Street then walk through the arch) t's a small restaurant downstairs so you might have to wait for a table as it's very popular. The food is always excellent with a great selection of juices. The menu always has... read more

Another fantastic meal at Ard Bia! Having returned to Galway numerous times this still remains one of the best dining experiences in the sitting. The atmosphere is unique and the service is outstanding. I enjoyed the rack of lamb and every bite was cooked to perfection. The menu features a lot of local produce and the portions are just right... More

If you're going to Galway , be careful. Eating out is quite expensive especially at Ard Bia. Food is nice and tasty but if you are a good eater, you'll find that it is quite expensive for what you get on your dish.

My husband and I stumbled into Ard Bia because the sign said 'bakery'. We were surprised that it was a small restaurant without a traditional bakery. We asked if we could grab a drink at the small bar (only 2 seats), and they had to check their reservation book to ensure those seats were available. Lucky for us, they were!... More

Went for reunion with two old college friends from the seventies. Booked for 7pm. Arrived on time. Had lovely meal. At 8:45, before we were offered coffee, the dark haired waitress put the bill abruptly on the table and said 'that table is booked for 9 o 'clock'. We ordered our coffee from a blonde waitress. It took a few... More

Went here for lunch on a recent trip home and was pleasantly surprised, even though I was well aware of its reputation of being one of Galway's best for a long time. We dropped in without a booking, a half an hour before lunch ended, and the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Lovely rustic feel... More
