I visited this quaint place on the sat 10th of jan last. It was early in the day and we felt very hungry and cold. We got to kettle of fish and the lovely warmth and nice music was inviting. The chef/server was very helpful with our questions on menu selection. We finally decided on the chowder and god was... More

Excellent high quality fish and chips. Would recommend to anybody. It does exactly what it says in the tin!

We dined here after a tour of the wild Atlantic way Galway section so we were well hungry and dying for some good seafood. We all settled on chowder and fish and chips. It was just lovely the chowder was full of fish and filling but we still managed the fish and chips which was spot on fresh and crispy... More

The food here is quite nice, but both times I have gone, there has been a problem. Once, we came in 15 mins before closing and asked if it was ok to order for takeaway. We were told it was, but while the lady was getting the food, we spent the whole time listening to her giving out about the... More

I am loathed to give a restaurant a poor review but the Kettle of Fish was every poor indeed. The service to receive your food was very slow. When the food arrived, the smoked haddock was off and the replacement Lemon Sole did not arrive with chips. In a restaurant with only five tables the staff managed to mix up... More

I ordered fish and chips for about 8 Euro. They had lots of different fish you could try but I went with the classic. It took about 10-15 to be served, which was extremely long for starving students, but when it came, it was satisfying and delicious. Fish tasted fresh and chips were piping hot. I would recommend for a... More

Had been here once before and food & service were great so decided to go there again. Service was so slow. There was a number of staff behind the counter all they were interested in was who could go for a cigarette break and discussing the roster. We eventually got our mussels for starter and they were good. Went to... More

The worst fish I have ever tasted in my life. Tasted like it was washed in bleach. The chips were awful....half of them were bits and pieces.....inedible. To top it off i had a long blonde hair with the chips. Enter at your peril!!!

Really cannot understand the other good reviews. With only 5/6 tables the service should be flowing! Simple order: 1 person: 1 monkfish and chips, pan fried monkfish, first of all it took 10/15 mins, other tables were also waiting long time. Pan fried monkfish arrived covered in cream!? Who asked for cream, no flavour, we'll overlooked, simply disgusting!!

This is a great place to sample Galway's excellent local seafood without paying restaurant prices. If you don't feel like a take away, you can bring your own wine and eat inside a great option for people on a budget.
