Reasonable value and very tasty

Last time I was in this place a few years ago, it was fairly new and seemed to be going for a boutique chip shop vibe, serving almost gourmet style food in modern setting. Today, it seems the years have taken their toll on the interior and it could do with a refresh. However, the food was really... read more

Back here again and it was even better than last time. Tempura prawns, tartar sauce served in an oyster shell, a delicious salad with radish and the best ever chips with crispy bits-HEAVEN

This hiddden gem of the fish & chips tradition seems not to be afraid of competition in a fish &chips town such as Galway. They provide something a little different from tradition, putting a little more effort in the food presentation (and throwing in a couple of condiments more) than the typical "chipper". The fish is good, but then again... More

I visited this quaint place on the sat 10th of jan last. It was early in the day and we felt very hungry and cold. We got to kettle of fish and the lovely warmth and nice music was inviting. The chef/server was very helpful with our questions on menu selection. We finally decided on the chowder and god was... More

We dined here after a tour of the wild Atlantic way Galway section so we were well hungry and dying for some good seafood. We all settled on chowder and fish and chips. It was just lovely the chowder was full of fish and filling but we still managed the fish and chips which was spot on fresh and crispy... More

The food here is quite nice, but both times I have gone, there has been a problem. Once, we came in 15 mins before closing and asked if it was ok to order for takeaway. We were told it was, but while the lady was getting the food, we spent the whole time listening to her giving out about the... More

I am loathed to give a restaurant a poor review but the Kettle of Fish was every poor indeed. The service to receive your food was very slow. When the food arrived, the smoked haddock was off and the replacement Lemon Sole did not arrive with chips. In a restaurant with only five tables the staff managed to mix up... More

I ordered fish and chips for about 8 Euro. They had lots of different fish you could try but I went with the classic. It took about 10-15 to be served, which was extremely long for starving students, but when it came, it was satisfying and delicious. Fish tasted fresh and chips were piping hot. I would recommend for a... More

Had been here once before and food & service were great so decided to go there again. Service was so slow. There was a number of staff behind the counter all they were interested in was who could go for a cigarette break and discussing the roster. We eventually got our mussels for starter and they were good. Went to... More
