If you love Japanese food, but want a little innovation and style, try this restaurant. The food is delicious -- wonderfully fresh fish, homemade dashi (the base for miso soup), and fresh tofu made that morning (I don't even particularly love tofu, but what you get here is an entirely different food from what most Japanese restaurants serve up). Lovely... More

Stumbled upon this welcoming little place while looking for a place to eat with a toddler and an infant on a busy Saturday night. Food and drinks were quality, Tsunami plate with lotus root salad was excellent. Sushi and sashimi great too.

I'm a frequent goer of kappa ya but my last visit would make me reconsider going back again. Firstly I understand that it's one chef but waiting 45mins was too much when there was only 2 tables of 2 ahead of me. It got really stuffy and smoky in the small area that it became uncomfortable to sit there. Then... More

Been here more than once. Nice, simple and thoroughly authentic. Well priced for the portions served. I've learnt to avoid lunch time rush and normally pop in just after 2pm when it's nice and quiet

Just never again will I set foot in this establishment. I don't even want to remember my last visit. A former frequent patron.

Went in for lunch with two friends last thursday- hadn't been for quite some time but still as amazing as ever. Everything is just so fresh & tasty and the specials are always simple yet interesting. Love this little place.

I visit Kappa Ya's on a regular basis and am so happy that its open again. For perfectly affordable and great tasting food its my perfect pitstop for my one hour lunch break. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and its always a perfect choice for her too. A must go!

We are an Asian couple visiting Galway from California. We ordered simply at the Kappa-ya, miso soup, chicken teriyaki and some chicken teriyaki sushi. What a pleasant surprise. The teriyaki dishes were very good and my wife said that the miso was one of the best she has ever had.

I had dinner here again tonight, miso soup with Tofu and veggie sushi rolls, great, and very filling, I had one roll and soup which came to around €7.50, it was plenty for me. My dining partner had the same except 2 rolls which came to around €11.50, it was a huge plate. The veggie tempura is one of my... More

I'm a regular customer at Kappa-ya. My favourite dish is definitely the Terriyaki-chicken Don. They also serve various sushi roll and they have fresh sushi on saturdays. I do know that most Irish people don't like raw fish so for those who don't like raw fish they can try the Terriyaki chicken sushi roll or the Japanese sushi roll. The... More
