Best meal for ages

Had an outstanding dinner here. Rib eye steak with whiskey glaze marvellous. Surf and turf great. Steves leaves outstanding and secret. Couldn't fault anything apart from the fact that they forgot to take the order for our desert, which we didn't really need anyway.

Visiting Galway for just one night, we headed to The Malt House for our evening meal. I wanted something 'local' but not pub grub and this seemed to fit the bill. It was a nice environment, not too loud, but still a bit of a buzz and although it was quite busy, the staff were attentive and friendly. I started... More

My wife, sister in law and myself visited the garden centre in Mountbellew so we decided to have dinner in The Malt House Bar and Resturant, entering the Resturant we were greeted with a warm welcome, the staff were very friendly, the Resturant was a mixer of old and new and very clean, the starter, main course and desert was... My partner and I said we would give The Malt House a try as the menu looked lovely on their website. However, when we arrived at the restaurant it was a completely different story. First of all, we were seated beside a drafty fire exit that made for a terrible eye sore for the duration of our meal, as well... More

We found the Malt House to be very congenial and comfortable, with an aspirational but welcoming menu. The accent is on fresh, local ingredients, and the results are well worth the effort. We both started with spring nettle and wild garlic soup; I then had John Dory which was expertly served with mash and (more) wild garlic. Superb local ice... More

Visited as a group of 12 with reservation. Had a long wait by the bar with standing room only. Seafood chowder was good but served lukewarm. The "Surf & Turf" is a total joke but could have been spectacular as the 4 scallops were delicious. The "TURF" consisted of 4 small balls of mashed potato with a bit of minced... More

Great restaurant located just off Shop Street down a little alleyway. Offers A La Carte and Early Bird menu. Great seafood options and steak is very good. Staff attentive and restaurant itself is beautiful inside. Restaurant was very busy and seems popular.

My boyfriend brought me here for dinner after being away for a week, it was recommended by friends and we were so disappointed. When ordering our meal I asked the waitress about the menu but she couldn't answer me and got another waitress to help but she couldn't help me either! After our starters we were waiting for over a... More

The food is amazing and the staff was more than attentive. Our waiter gave us some really good recommendations on the food. He nicely made me order the seabass which I wouldn't have tried on my own but he didn't promise too much, it was really lovely. Desserts are so delicious as well!

We love city breaks and this is our fav spot when in galway. Always lovely buzz at weekend and great options on menu too. Room is nice, no fuss. Food is tasty and service is good too. Early bird is great price or you might feel it expensive otherwise. Some great pubs around though for laters. Love Galway city
