Cavistons has that great combination of great seafood and a great wine list but all packaged up in a fairly tight space and at a moderate price. The space may not be ideal for a large group. Being only a ten minute walk from the centre of Dun Laohaire it is pleasantly situated and well worth a visit for a... More

Five of us had a family meal here to celebrate a special occasion. We have been before, and our expectations were high. We were all very happy both with the choice and quality of our dishes. Ihad a beautiful piece of monkfish but was envious of the seared scallops chosen by others. The service was friendly and attentive. Its not... More

This was our second time to have lunch here, both times we have chosen from the al carte menu which makes for an expensive lunch but the food is excellent and service is lovely and friendly and efficient. I would recommend this restaurant

Hubby and I felt like having fish for dinner (read: I really wanted fish and he had to go along with the idea:) so we decided to go for a walk to Dun Laoghaire. We were in Cavistons once before and the fish was splendid so I chanced it by ringing the restaurant on the day... It is a very... More

The absolute highlight of our travels around Ireland. It was mid-afternoon and we were both starving. We had driven down to Waterford and back up the coast through Wexford and Wicklow photographing since the wee hours of the morning. We were very close to Dún Laoghaire and a quick search showed us Caviston's looked like the perfect place to have... More

It was wonderful, a real treat for our first visit. Our starters were Shrimps Piri Piri and crab meat with avocado, both were delicious. Main course was Dublin bay prawns and lobster tail in a light creamy tarragon and dill sauce, superb..with a bottle of white Picpul (not sure about the spelling). Dessert sticky toffee for both of us (... More

We ate here in early November and i have to say it was excellent, the queen scallops with chorizo was delicious as were the crab claws. the mains of hake and the other of monkfish were excellent and the list of wines are superb. All in all a very enjoyable experience, would definately go back again.

Went there for our wedding anniversary and was really looking forward to it. I had the soup which came in a nice bowl but only quarter filled. My husband had the mackerel which was presented with no garnish. For the main course I had salmon which was very dry and I would think over-cooked. My husband had the hake which... More
