This is a VERY small restaurant, offering two sittings for Dinner (no flexibility with timings in between). This is a seafood restaurant, and the selection of available fish is varied enough, tough not huge. Our party of two had the daily "special" - lobster and an a la carte option of Tuna steak. The lobster was served warm, in the... More

Cavistons never fails. They offer beautifully cooked fresh fish and seafood accompanied by delicious boiled potatoes and a salad. They allow the simple but delicious ingredients to speak for themselves. The service is provided by informed enthusiastic people and nothing is too much trouble. On my last visit the black sole was the best fish I have ever tasted. Whenever... More

Great seafood with professional service. Open Tuesday-Saturday. Small restaurant so you sit close to other patrons. Would recommend. You need to book, and they have 2 sittings per lunch/per dinner.

This was my first visit to Ireland and my husband thought it would be good to try some decent seafood. We could only book the early sitting on a Friday night and phoned ahead to ask if we could come later but would be finished before the next guest. This wasn't an issue for them at all. The restaurant is... More

I have been to Cavistons a few times in recent months. The choice of dishes is quite limited but the quality of the food is consistently good. It's a small restaurant, not unlike a cotinental bistro. It's always a good idea to reserve. I will be back.

Booked a table in advance, it's recommended you do so. It's a very small place and when I called to book I was offered 12.30 or 3pm. We had to wait for previous sitters to finish up so we were left to sit in the cold outside for over half an hour. The head waiter seemed put out that we... More

Had beautiful meal on our wedding anniversary and the quality of food was up to their usual high standard. Best to book to avoid disappointment. The shellfish we had was superb. We will visit again without fail.

This is an excellent, atmospheric restaurant in Glasthule. Glasthule is a little village not far from Dalkey; the nicest village in South Dublin. Glasthule has many little shops which add to the joy of going there. Service is excellent and the food always perfect. It is owned by the Caviston family who have been a fixture in that part of...
