Great Food and service

Went for an evening meal, not our first visit but it had been a good six months from our last. Service was very good and the food was even better. Will be back a joy to go to.

We had waited a year since our last vacation to eat here. It was well worth the wait. The best appetizer and entree we have ever had in a seafood restaurant. Their food market next door is awesome as well.

Nice fresh fish in a tiny rather cramped little restaurant. The lunch is the best value but you have to stick to their timings which may not suit, I think it's 12, 13.30, 15.00 or some such. Evenings are expensive - at least €50 per person.

this is a lovely restaurant...if you love FISH and really good fish at that you must visit. The Caviston shop (next door) has long been famous for its quality delicatessen and fish shop so you are guaranteed freshest fish. Only drawback, it's quite small and tends to need a couple of sittings so if you want to linger best to... More

We hadn't been for a year but the offer of a whole lobster and a glass of wine for under €29 was irresistible. It was superb. The food is great, the service impeccable and attitude completely professional.Other diners were mostly locals. Next door is Cavistons Delicatesen. ..an Aladins cave of wonderful rare foodie attractions as well as a fish shop.... More

We stayed at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dunleary and walked to Caviston's but taxied back after dinner. Caviston’s is a really good seafood restaurant I hope to go back to next time in Dublin! We went for the second sitting at 8.15 pm. Our party of four was received in a friendly way and we were given a table... More

The fish is always the star in this small restaurant. It doesn’t get fiddled with, you get a decent piece of good fish with an appropriate sauce. On our latest visit we both had the tian of crabmeat & avocado for starters. Delicious. For mains, the wife had John Dory with crayfish. I had turbot with a butter/lemony sauce. Top... More

We visited in mid-April, bringing a Canadian relative with us. (she knows her seafood). The menu is terrific - with a huge variety of fish, shellfish and crab dishes, not surprising as Caviston's main business is fishmongering. The set menu is good value but lacks the variety. I had the best crab claws ever, others had salmon, john Dory, hake.... More

We'd heard a lot of excellent reviews about this restaurant and that can sometimes lead to disappointment. Just not quite living up to expectations. Instead of that happening however we were pleasantly surprised. Cavistons surpassed our high expectations. Great chilli squid starter. 3 of the 4 of us had the monkfish and it was probably one of the best pieces... More
