A friend who knows my fish eating habits introduced me to this very snug, very good place to eat and shop for very special treats before or after. A very pleasant experience, enjoyed by others whose conversations filled this small restaurant. This is the only caveat. We were seated promptly, served impeccably and can easily understand how this attracts regulars,... More

After returning home from holiday where we were eating seafood almost everyday we were craving more. Service is 5 star and seafood is excellent with generous portions! Good wine list with good knowledge from waiter. Will definitely be returning!

Great selection of veggies (incl. organic), cheeses, fish, bakery, joghurts, jams, savoury items like beetroot relish etc. Coffee to go. Avoid peak-times to avoid queues... Staff always very friendly, this shop just is special. Tip: You can also pay for your shopping at the fish-counter at the back ;)

Been here several times but always look forward to the delicious food This time oysters, wild halibut and a plum creme fraiche tart. Fish was cooked perfectly. Since it was my wife's birthday we started with cava and then moved to a delicious albarino The desserts accompanied by super Californian muscats made by Andrew Quady Super meal

Let me state at the outset that my musical interests are primarily 50's jazz (Thelonius, anyone?) and 70's rock (kerranggg!). More about that later. My wife and I booked a table for 1.30pm ( lunch sittings are 12.00, 1.30 and 3.00) but when we arrived at 1.35pm we were told that the table would be ready in a few minutes.... More

My partner and I were on a mid week break in Dublin and found ourselves in Dun Laoghaire for the afternoon. The smell of the sea made us want to try some fresh fish and after enquiring at a local shop found ourselves in Cavistons. I could spend loads of space writing about the Crab Claws and salmon that were... More

I have been coming to Cavistons for more years than I care to mention and in all that time I've never had a bad meal . In fact I will state that my gold standard for perfectly cooked fish is Cavistons. They don't do fancy or fashion, just good fish perfectly cooked and always with baby potatoes and mixed salad.... Made another visit to Cavistones, and was hoping for as good as our last meal. Wow, would you believe it was even better. We started of with Grilled Squid, and had the Scallops for our main course, what a fantastic meal, everything was just perfect. Service was as good as the food. Well done to the chef and waiting staff... More

We dined mid-week with no feeling of crowding in this compact restaurant. The service was excellent and the wine (selected by my guest) was most enjoyable. The menu was 100% fish dishes. Everything on offer is fresh (never frozen, we were told) and tasted so. I certainly would visit again.

Just arrived in Dun Laoighre didn't have a booking but luckily got a table for two. There were only two ladies waiting table and it was full for the early sitting. Service was fantastic. I had lobster for main and it was delicious. My husband had salmon for main and it was equally good. The starters were good also. We... More
