Quiet, calm atmosphere in elegant decor. Lovely friendly staff and absolutely delicious food. The bread alone is worth going for. Always interesting people to observe while dining, often a famous face or two pop in.

We took advantage of Cavistons special lunch offer, as advertised in The Irish Times. We booked a week in advance as we wanted 1st sitting (noon - 13.30) on a Friday and its a very small establishment (it wasn't our 1st visit but our last visit was more than 2 years earlier). Just as well as it was full. We... More

Two of us joined a well-heeled clientele to enjoy a very pleasant (but no choice) set lunch (€19) consisting of celeriac and broccoli soup and panfried salmon with baby potatoes, salad and sweetcorn veloute sauce. A basket of five different breads were served with the soup. The restaurant is mentioned in James Joyce's Ulysses and has definitely stood the test... More

simple and utterly delicious fish and seafood. the garlicky crab claws were fantastic. great place. well worth a visit. much prefer this confident, homely cooking, over fussy mitchelin-starred fare.

Had a wonderful relaxing lunch here last week. The prawns and scallops were juicy and cooked to perfection. The waitress whom serviced us couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. Great to be served by interested local staff who speak English as their first language and can engage with customers . Wonderful food and service

We had lunch in Cavistons before Christmas and enjoyed it very much. Excellent smoked salmon and gravilax to start followed by a marvelous black sole on the bone and tasty monkfish in a shellfish and chorizo sauce. Excellent potatoes too. It's a small restaurant with only 20-22 seats so it's wise to book, especially at the weekend. Nice wine selection... More

We had lunch here on a recent visit to Dublin and we were delighted with it. My husband had the lunch menu and I had the garlic prawn main course special. And boy! was it special. Lots of prawns (out of their shells) in a delicious garlic broth served with generous sides. Staff was professional and friendly. I loved this... More
