Stopped in to this lovely place on a Saturday morning recently and what a great place it was. The staff were very pleasant and chatty which is lovely and sometimes missing these days. The coffee and scones were great in pretty surroundings and the lunch menu looked very appetizing. Will be calling here again when next I visit Dun Laoghaire.

Went for lunch with 3 other people on a Saturday in July. Cafe remained almost empty.Food very average with limited menu. Very poor side salad comprising cole slaw, grated carrot ,cucumber, lettuce, with absolutely no dressing whatsoever. Good lasagne, not too heavy. Service was very good and pleasant. Toilet facilities very poor. Hand dryer broken and not working. No towel, tissues... More

Sear Tristram168, Firstly I would like to thank you for your feedback and secondly I would like to reply to some of your comments. The toilet facilities, we do have working hand dryers in both of our toilets, occasionally customers turn it off as the power switch is outside the toilet, people think they are turning on the light even... Was here on a Sunday. Very nice staff, nice setting but the food was a let down. We both had the pies and my chicken and cream sauce pie was just a tad odd, covered in cornflakes and almonds it was just passable. Perhaps nice out of the oven but not once microwaved. Coffees were good but the desert was... More

Dear Thom D, Firstly I want to say thanks for writing your review, I'm sorry you did not enjoy our best selling dish, the poppies chicken. Poppies Chicken has been our best selling item for the last twenty years but I realise not everyone likes it. Im happy you enjoyed the salads, the service and the coffee and I will... More

I had Salmon Bake which costs me 10 euros for eat-in (it costs much cheaper for take away though). The portion was quite big, and the salad was really good as you are given quite a variety of options, but the downside was the main dish itself was a bit bland while the salmon meat itself was way too salty... Dear Rosera, Thank you for the review, I appreciate all feedback from customers. We try to keep the pricing in our cafe as simple as possible, a portion of cold food to take home and say reheat later costs €5.00, a portion of hot food food by itself in the cafe costs €6.50 and a portion of food with side... I have popped into this establishment (both in Enniskerry and Dun Laoghaire, over the years when I am home, and have noted the increased variety of good home cooked food they have on offer, compared to the soup and sandwiches approach of a lot of their competitors. The coffee is good and the staff are very friendly. Having the wifi... More

Dining experience was okay, nothing special. I ordered a scone and it was not cooked thoroughly, raw inside. They replaced it immediately with another one that tasted like it had been made a few days before.

Friendly pleasant cafe. Nice coffee. Food all microwaved which was disappointing as there was nice fresh muffins and scones

Hi Ronan, Many thanks for taking the time to review us, we do indeed use microwave ovens (as do most cafes) to reheat some of our products, but our main oven is a merichef which is the most efficient oven on the market. Delighted you enjoyed our scones and muffins. Warm Regards Peter Norton More

My husband and I regularly visit Poppies' as a treat to ourselves. The combination of friendly staff and fresh, homecooked food, is unsurpassed. This establishment is carrying on the tradition of excellence started in Poppies of Enniskerry. Well worth a visit and we wwill be back.
