Great to see Poppies reinventing themsleves

I have popped into this establishment (both in Enniskerry and Dun Laoghaire, over the years when I am home, and have noted the increased variety of good home cooked food they have on offer, compared to the soup and sandwiches approach of a lot of their competitors. Dining experience was okay, nothing special. I ordered a scone and it was not cooked thoroughly, raw inside. They replaced it immediately with another one that tasted like it had been made a few days before.

Friendly pleasant cafe. Nice coffee. Food all microwaved which was disappointing as there was nice fresh muffins and scones

Hi Ronan, Many thanks for taking the time to review us, we do indeed use microwave ovens (as do most cafes) to reheat some of our products, but our main oven is a merichef which is the most efficient oven on the market. Delighted you enjoyed our scones and muffins. Warm Regards Peter Norton More

My husband and I regularly visit Poppies' as a treat to ourselves. The combination of friendly staff and fresh, homecooked food, is unsurpassed. This establishment is carrying on the tradition of excellence started in Poppies of Enniskerry. Well worth a visit and we wwill be back.

Hi Tracey, I'm absolutely delighted you liked the red velvet cake. We have not offered it for a while but this week I brought it back out of retirement, with glowing reviews that you gave it we will have to make sure it stays on the menu for a while!! Thanks again Warm Regards Peter Norton More

I really like it here and have been here many times. The specials and the menu are always changing and the service is always with a smile so I would pick here on a regular basis for that very reason. They also don't seem to treat "vegetarian" like some dietry requirements and have plenty of options for everyone regardless of... More

When in Ireland my friends and I swim at the 40 foot and afterwards go for breakfast....Poppies is our choice of venue. We have visited here many times and always found staff, food and service beyond reproach. They are accommodating (I don't like rashers) I prefer bacon so they will adjust the menu for me. What I would like to... More

My girlfriend had a plain ham (one slice of ham) and butter sandwich (untoasted) and was charged e5.50. She was hopping mad!! The side salad consisted of washed leaves WITHOUT any other salad (tomatoe/coleslaw/vingerette) even though it was requested. This price charged was excessive and it seems priced at the level of a toasted alternative??? I like the atmosphere in... More

Having some home renovations done and 'popped' in here for the full Irish breakfast - excellent value with high quality food and on our doorstep. The Hungarian lady chef knows what she is doing with a very Irish country kitchen ambiance - worth a visit.
