Description: Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

We were a large group of about 20 and we asked for a selection of dishes. I have no idea what half of them were but each one was tasty and different. This is a Nepalese not a traditional Indian restaurant. The food is spicy and tasty. Prices are very reasonable.

I love this restaurant and have been at least 6 times. The food is delicious and the service is great. It's a teeny bit expensive but overall, I would very much reccomend this restaurant.

Warm welcome with no reservation on a sat evening at 6.30pm. Friendly professional staff. Good choice of food including vegetarian options. Early bird very good value. The version of medium is quite spicy for the Irish palate, the buttered chick beautiful.

Overall, found the food to be good. The vegetable Nan was fantastic. Main dish was also very tasty - the yogurt based sauce with green chilies, onions, ginger and garlic was very tasty. Desserts were not impressive. The music was a bit too loud.

Walking round temple bar came across this - liked to look of the menus so went in. Great food, great service, great value and a good bottle of red wine at a reasonable price. Will go back when I go back to Dublin. Had the bean and lentil soup - a meal on its own and nice and spicy. Had... More

Too expensive for average food, nice idea for seating. Big push to go for group offers, end up spending more. Wont be back.

Bit unassuming form the outside and nothing fancy inside but great service and food was superb. Really nice alternative to standard curry house. Food was fresh , hot and very good indeed. Prices very reasonable as well. Rated highly.

I was visiting Dublin from Sydney in July and was lucky enough to have a friend living there who booked us infor dinner. I had never had Nepalese before and I asked our waiter what was the difference between Nepalese and Indian. He said "You tell me after your dinner". The food was simply amazing, the tastiest meal I can... More

To be fair Monty's in Rathgar is/was a favourite place for us to visit about 4 times yearly, for over 3 years. The food, service, and ambience has been excellent. So why the poor review? Put simply we were charged an outrageous price for an extra glass of wine ordered at the end of the meal ! ( only found out... More
