Description: Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

We ate here two nights ago based on its TripAdvisor rating and on Ernie Whalley's review. It did not live up to our expectations. We rang to book on the Thursday for the Saturday, late I know, but they could squeeze us in between 6:30 and 8:30. That was grand and they should have made every effort to make sure... More

Visited Monty's for the first time in early December. The food was amazing, prices were decent and the staff were really nice. The place has won awards every year since 2002 and it's not hard to see why. Being a Saturday evening the restaurant was packed yet we weren't made to wait for long periods. Will definitely return on next... More

I had been looking forward to trying Montys of Katmandu for ages - as a number of people had recommended it. I was not disappointed. The smell of spices when you walk in the door is amazing. And the food was super. It is Nepalese - which is similar to Indian - with less heavy cream and clarified butter. Great... More

Myself and 4 of "the girls" ate here on a Saturday night. There is a great variety of dishes to choose from and if you are vegetarian plenty of options (that don't involve cheese!). We had a platter of a selection of starters which had a variety of dips with them. The food here is freshly cooked and really tasty.... More

I do not know. Seemed rather Indian to me, but I am not an expert. Be it as it may, my wife and I had a very pleasant dinner there last Friday. The restaurant is small and busy. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was plentiful and well cooked.

Tucked away on Eustace Street, this might fine award winning Nepalese restaurant should be on everyone's "to visit" list. A great selection of food is available and a with a huge wine selection to enjoy at the same time - what more could one ask for? Meals are cooked to your order and degrees of spiciness/heat may be varied depending... More

Walked through Temple Bar on a very mild evening for November. We found Monty's by accident looking for a different restaurant. The restaurant is well set out with friendly staff & as it turned out really good food. Having eaten at lunch we didn't have starters but were given free popadoms & spice tray. June had a prawn curry which... More

A lovely setting and the waiters were very helpful in discussing eating options. We had a range of starters and a mix of main course and every dish was lovely . All washed down with a very pleasant bottle of Red. The whole meal including wine for three for 80 euros definitely worth a visit .

Monty's is fantastic for food with friends, a date, or occasions. The service is top notch and genuine. The food is beautiful and fresh, not heavy or processed at all like some of its competitors. While you may find slightly cheaper available it is worth paying just a little more for the relaxed peaceful atmosphere and great service offered in... More

I didn't have great expectations dining out in Temple Bar, but was persuaded by the good the reviews of Monty's. And it was really good. Mostly a Nepalese menu, it is great diversion from the food served up in Indian restaurants in the surrounding area. Recommended.
