Description: Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

Originally from rural Ireland I had only eaten once in an Indian restaurant in Dublin and I didn't enjoy the food. My wife is Glaswegian and grew up regularly eating Indian food. Whenever she suggested going to an Indian restaurant I always convinced her to go elsewhere. A leading restaurant critic in a National newspaper wrote about Montys and was... More

We dined here in mid June on a Sunday night and from start to finish, it was superb! Wine list is fantastic - we had an excellent Pinotage; service was flawless and food was delicious. I would highly recommend the 'sharing platter' as a starter. I had mentioned to the waiter that it was my husband's birthday and he sent... More

We had a free evening in Dublin and were looking for a nice ethnic meal. I looked on Trip Advisor and saw this well-reviewed place. My wife had been to Katmandu in her teens, we both enjoy curries, so we reserved our table. The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive, and the owner came to our table to... More

Visited with a group of 6 of us after reading about it online - and it really is very good. The service was superb - we moved our reservation by 30mins at late notice and they were fine about this. We then got a great welcome into the restaurant and the team of waiters kept engaging with us throughout the... More

We eat here about once a month, and it is always excellent. The staff are superb, the atmosphere good, but most importantly the food is always oustanding. I have tried numerous dishes over the years and they've all been good, in particular I recommend the Masu Ko Bahri starter, it's out of this world. Can't wait to go back!

My partner and I had dinner here our first night in Dublin. What a great way to begin our holiday! Not only is the service quick and friendly, but the food was amazing. We didn't have a reservation, however were seated at once and received menus/water in seconds. We both agreed that it was by far the best curries we... More

We just happened into this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent and although they have a two dinner minimum for two people they understood that in our jet-lagged state we only needed and wanted a plate to share. The waiter accommodated us and still gave us the same perfect service he gave the other tables...maybe better... More

Has to be my favourite ever ethnic restaurant, worth making the trip slightly off the beaten track to find this place in one of Temple Bar's side streets, just around the corner from the Olympia Theatre. Genuine Nepalese food, genuine Nepalese welcome & great service. Try the Kachela, a lamb version of Steak Tartare, the Poleko Squid or one of... More

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, food was really nice though they didn't have my first choice and tried to persuade me to have a 26 euro alternative, I declined. My partner loved his meal, his main course was Ledo Bedo, I had prawns in spinach which was much like prawns in spinach everywhere. Our choice of wine was not available... More
