Description: Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

I dined here with a friend during our trip in Dublin. I spotted the place while walking idly on the main street, so totally by chance. I've never eaten so well in any ethnic-indian-ish restaurant. I've had the best tandoori ever and my friend had a lamb dish that was delicious. The crunchy flat bread was good and the sauces... More

I've been there with a couple of friends, we had a multitude of dishes and a chance to try a wide range of their food. Based on that I can say all of it tasted very good... and very, very similar. Nothing struck me as particularly good, particularly bad... or particularly different. All of the dishes had this nice charcoal... More

Arrived before the restaurant had opened but was given table. Very good atmosphere and lighting. Unusual plates (metal). Water poured by waiter from a metal pot with spout. Waiter was very attentive and kept water glasses filled. Food was incredibly tasty and there was a good size portion. The naan bread was quite flat but so delicious!!Downstairs toilets were modern... Best meal in a restaurant ever, had lamb curry ... This was so tender, no fatty bits like some places, sauce so perfect, and usually I have to have chips, but tried the rice which was so perfect, only one thing was the tables are a bit close together, but would not deter me from going back, lovely meal, great... My kids are still talking about the utter chicken. The meal was really good. The food is Nepalese; which is similar to Indian and if that is your benchmark, the food is great. The decor was okay. Servers were efficient in managing the meal. Note they are not the stereotypical hang out and chat with you type of servers that... More

Originally from rural Ireland I had only eaten once in an Indian restaurant in Dublin and I didn't enjoy the food. My wife is Glaswegian and grew up regularly eating Indian food. Whenever she suggested going to an Indian restaurant I always convinced her to go elsewhere. A leading restaurant critic in a National newspaper wrote about Montys and was... More

We dined here in mid June on a Sunday night and from start to finish, it was superb! Wine list is fantastic - we had an excellent Pinotage; service was flawless and food was delicious. I would highly recommend the 'sharing platter' as a starter. I had mentioned to the waiter that it was my husband's birthday and he sent... More

We had a free evening in Dublin and were looking for a nice ethnic meal. I looked on Trip Advisor and saw this well-reviewed place. My wife had been to Katmandu in her teens, we both enjoy curries, so we reserved our table. The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive, and the owner came to our table to... More

Visited with a group of 6 of us after reading about it online - and it really is very good. The service was superb - we moved our reservation by 30mins at late notice and they were fine about this. We then got a great welcome into the restaurant and the team of waiters kept engaging with us throughout the... More
