Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

A bit cramped, but good food.

The tables for 2 are very small and packed close together so feels a bit cramped. Portions on the chutney tray were very small and watery, but this was made up for by the excellent main meal. We had the hot Nepalese lamb curry and the sliced lamb dishes, both really tasty and can highly recommend... read more

This alone is worth a trip to Montys and is the reason I inevitably find myself at Montys every time I am in Dublin. I have tried a variety of Moukhay Khana Saakhari (Vegetarian) mains with very good to good reviews, although I am not sure if the latter are a result of my just not particularly caring for the... We visited here early this year and did the tasting menu. It was a brilliant way to experience traditional Nepalese cuisine and quite reasonable.

I came to Monty's with my partner and I can honestly say that it was the most authentic and friendly restaurant we've ever been to. First of all, the stafd were brilliant. They knew the menu very well, they were friendly, gracious and polite... by far the best I've ever been served by. Secondly, the food was just as good... More

This was a truly excellent restaurant. We all had different meals and they were all thoroughly enjoyed. One starter was raw lamb served with a glass of whisky and was reported to be really good. Everyone enjoyed everything that we were served with and we would all definitely go again,

This is one of the best value restaurants in Dublin. Located in the city centre, Monty's is in a perfect location, just off Dame St. I went here with a few friends and each of us ordered a different dish from the excellent value Early Bird menu (€18.95 for 2 courses). From the lamb and cauliflower to the vegetarian options,... More

Time and time again, the food in this restaurant has remained divine! I have been coming here since 2003! Their Kachela is by far the best appetizer - ensure you order it with the shot of Jameson Whisky! Yes it is raw lamb, but I have ordered this dish 10-12 times before and never had GI problems. I also love... More

I discovered Monty's a couple of years ago when looking for a good Nepalese restaurant on a business trip to Dublin, and now it is a firm staple on all business or pleasure trips to Dublin! It can be really depressing as a business traveller to experience bland, corporate restaurants that make you feel like you're in any other restaurant... More

A taste sensation. Amazing food and good selection of wine. Never tried this cuisine before....I will be back in an instant given the opportunity. It isn't cheap but its worth it. Staff were pleasant and attentive. It would be particularly good for a special meal.
