Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

Rudest reception ever

I accept that the restaurant was busy on Saturday evening(28/02/15) but the way in which the head waiter dealt with our enquiry as to the possibility of a table was appalling. He was ignorant, arrogant and rude. He looked at me as though I was something nasty that he'd trodden in.

The food was delicious and the service is extrem friendly. It's a bit expensive but you get what you pay for.

Monty's restaurant is a nice place with table cloth and real cloth napkin. The staff is very polite but..... When all that is said the food is only average. Maybe you can't make Indian-nepalese food Into a gourmet feast but decorate it with salad-cucumber-tomato the european way is a mistake and serve it like a normal day dinner is too... More

We had eaten here last year and were delighted to bring our teenage son with us last night. Great variety on the menu and a nice wine list. Even on a Monday there was a warm atmosphere. Good value considering the high quality of the food. Excellent selection for vegetarians.

Visited Monty's for my husband's birthday, after reading a certain food critics (EW) review in The Sunday Times. Below average experience. I ordered the rice and Dahl - ssoooooo bland. I returned the Dahl and fair enough it was replaced by something equally "school dinnerish". I was told the Dahl was tasteless because it was to be consumed with another... More

After my recent trip to Nepal, I was craving some Nepali food. Monty's did not dissapoint! I had the chicken Momo--of course--and it was delicious. For my main course, I had the butter chicken and naan. The flavor of the sauce was amazing but I did have a couple of chewy/fatty pieces. The naan was delicious. My friends were all... More

Surprising because of it being so good in Dublin. Definitely get the sampler which is an excellent meal and takes the guessing out of it.

Had dinner here for the first time last New Year's Eve. We've never had Nepalese food before but saw the tasting platter on someone else's table and decided to go for that. It didn't disappoint !!! Fabulous home cooked food, attentive staff and an extensive wine list. We will definitely be back again. Would highly recommend

We were lucky enough to find a table for new year's eve and had great time. Everything was just delicious and the waiters were really helpful. It's great when someone helps you to diversify and to size your order. We enjoyed so much that we couldn't resist to a second attempt two days later. Even better. A must for our... More
