Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

Great food great service and great overall experience

Went there accidently. Coming from India and as true and rather picky foodies ,did not accept much from a Nepali / Indian food restaurant in touristy temple bar area. We had heard many good reports of this restaurant so when we decided upon an impromptu visit to Dublin we went in search of it. It did not disappoint. The decor is as you would find in most long established Indian restaurants. The staff were very friendly with excellent service. They were happy to discuss and recommend dishes as requested.... This is a favourite of Dubliners and tourists a like. Great Nepalese cuisine. Friendly service. An unbeatable wine list. All in the centre of the city.

My husband has been passionate about this restaurant after visiting it 12 years ago. He said the lamp chops were to die for and we now know they still are! We shared the chef's starter dish which was also scrumptious. The service was excellent. The restaurant has been refurbished and has upstairs and downstairs tables. Although relatively busy, it had... More

Fed up with the 'Oirishness' of the bars and restaurants in the Temple Bar area we took a chance and dived into the smaller side streets and found this little gem of a restaurant. Great selection of authentic Nepalese food served by efficient and attentive staff. Try the Mungling Dhal Bhat - highly recommended !! The restaurant is fairly small... More

Excellent varied menu of Nepalese food with a wide selection of wines to compliment the dishes. It's a quiet oasis from all the activity from the Temple area. Well appointed wall with tasteful photos & paintings of the Himalayan mountain range. Sadly, no one working there know who Monty is, but they assured me they would find out & let... More

Mercifully tucked away from the main tourist drag and unnoticed by many - this is an absolute must for all lovers of spicy Asian food - I feel a bit of a traitor for revealing its location to be honest. Try the momos - authentic Nepalese and absolutely delicious - and the Lebo Bedo and Gorkhali (either or) are a... More

The food here was great!! We booked a table, as we went on a Saturday night, and I'm glad we did. The place was heaving and they were turning passing by trade away at times, as they were so busy. The menu is really interesting and there are lots of options for vegetarians. They will gladly adjust the hotness of... More
