Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

Go Nepalese !

This is a great restaurant if you like curry. The staff were delightful. They asked how we wanted our main course - we said hot. When the meal came it was spicy , with a very nice kick but not silly hot. The chef knew what they were doing! Everything was done perfectly . The pappadom s came... read more

Food was amazing, nice list of wines, polite staff, maybe a little bit overcrowded and packed at dinner hours. When in temple bar, be sure to pay a visit.

I was here for dinner with a few friends last night and we all agreed it was the nicest Indian meal we'd ever had! I love hot spicy food and asked the waiter to make my dish extra spicy. It was superb! The dishes are unique and it's an interesting menu. i will definitely be back and will be recommending... More

I went to Monty's purely on the strength of it's rating on here and I wasn't disaapointed. The main course was very good, I think it was Gorkhali that I had (I can't remember the spelling!) and it was excellent! My only slight quibble (and I'm being quite harsh!) would be that the pickles were a bit sparse with the... More

This was our second visit and it was every bit as good as our first visit two years ago. From start to finish the food was finger licking good. The service is always spot on without being invasive. Temple Bar gets a bad rap for restaurants, this however albeit on the edge of Temple Bar is just fantastic.

The tables for 2 are very small and packed close together so feels a bit cramped. Portions on the chutney tray were very small and watery, but this was made up for by the excellent main meal. We had the hot Nepalese lamb curry and the sliced lamb dishes, both really tasty and can highly recommend. I had just mentioned... More

This alone is worth a trip to Montys and is the reason I inevitably find myself at Montys every time I am in Dublin. I have tried a variety of Moukhay Khana Saakhari (Vegetarian) mains with very good to good reviews, although I am not sure if the latter are a result of my just not particularly caring for the... We visited here early this year and did the tasting menu. It was a brilliant way to experience traditional Nepalese cuisine and quite reasonable.

I came to Monty's with my partner and I can honestly say that it was the most authentic and friendly restaurant we've ever been to. First of all, the stafd were brilliant. They knew the menu very well, they were friendly, gracious and polite... by far the best I've ever been served by. Secondly, the food was just as good... More
