Great place for a casual dinner, good food, great wine and service. Very nice welcome offered by the boss. Would definitely return!

Lovely secret just outside the gates of Dublin Castle. The first glass of decent white wine I have had since arriving 3 days ago. Great snack of meats and cheeses all tasty and great presentation. We will go back for dinner

We booked for a birthday dinner for my wife as Chez Max came well recommended. Very delightful and charming ambiance. Attentive wait staff. We ordered martinisto start, which chez Max does not serve. Bar is limited to wines and beers. We settled for celebratory champagne to start. No sooner had the champagne been served, we felt pressed to order our... More

As far as French restorants go, this one, in the Heart of Dublin has managed to have me come back over and over again. The mussels and the Steak and lovely, But the breast of duck cooked in Red wine is another story entirely! I didnt believe that mean can melt on ones mouth untill i have tried this divine... More

I have enjoyed lunch in this branch of Chez Max on several occasions, and each time there have been French people eating there. A good sign. The music, decor and French-speaking staff remind me of memorable lunches in Paris. Last week my husband, son and I met there after a tour of the wonderful A to Z exhibition in the... More

Ive asked for the cheese and cherries in pastry, some salad and pesto...OMG..it was just the same as the first time weve been there. My bf asked for cheese (cant remember the name) the portion was small but the taste again...amazing. my only... More

I dined in chez max tonight and never again. We were shown to a table for three where one of the company faced a wall for the evening. As I had booked a table well in advance I asked to be moved, only to be told that this was the only available table, next to a door which opened and... More

I have to say Chez Max is the only place in central Dublin that has never disappointed me. Whether its a coffee or lunch or dinner the food is always so very very tasty. The lunchtime dish of the day is great value and yummy with my plate empty at the end. Staff are friendly and welcoming and service efficient.... More

Our impression - they do not know what the french cuisine is. We ordered three courses - snails, onion soup, beef bourguignon. No one was matched tastes of the same courses we ate in France. Snails we even returned since there was not enough salt and garlic and it was overcooked. Taste of soup was very poor too. The only... More
