Bonjour Monsieur

Paris comes to Dublin, so reminiscent of all the street side cafes dotted through out Paris, that one could imagine they were there, We just stopped in for a bottle of wine, and sat outside in their Irish weather proof, outside seating area, enjoying the Gaelic atmosphere, as near as you can get... read more

Having just toured Dublin Castle, Chez Max greeted us upon leaving, being practically on the door step. We had decided on just a light lunch/bite to eat. The sign on the forecourt clearly stated outside seating to the rear and as it was a glorious day then why not venture in. We were led through to an enclosed courtyard that... More

I have visited Chez Max a number of times before and was satisfied but this visit was very disappointing. I appreciate it was a busy Saturday night but we had booked a table and ended up elbow to elbow with a couple on each side. The service was rushed, food delivery very slow and dishes mediocre at best. I had... More

We really enjoyed our evening here. The food was delicious, waiters friendly and a great atmosphere. It was reasonably priced compared to similar restaurants of this quality. We paid approx €130 for 4 people (including wine). We could've easily been in Paris! Highly recommend a visit while in Dublin.

Great place, good food, perfect for a romantic dinner. You neither don't smell of food going out.. What always should happen with a good cuisine!

I'm not quite sure why this place gets such consistently good reviews. The atmosphere is nice, but the food is only ok, the service isn't particularly wonderful and the value for money is not good. For my mains I had some really beautifully cooked fish, but it was paired with tasteless ratatouille and rice laden with dried thyme that overpowered... More

I just love this restaurant. My friends and I had lunch there midweek and as always, it was excellent. I lived in France for many years and I find the food in Chez Max to be absolutely authentic in its taste and presentation. The French Onion Soup is to die for and the Moules Frites were delicious. The service was... More

My Daughter first introduced me to this place a number of years ago. I have returned a number of times, the most recent this week. I have to say I love the place, this time we had the early bird menu which is great value. If you like good food, very friendly staff and a great atmosphere in the heart... More

Plat du jour lunch was excellent value. Included a glass of red which I accidently toppled. Waitress spotted my predicament and with a smile replaced my wine. Sean

Being French & feeling homesick, I decided to bring my partner to what I thought would be a great French restaurant. What a disappointment! First of all, the staff: not particularly friendly. We had to wait 15min for our Martinis to arrive, & an average of 30min between each course to be served (nearly thrown at us without a smile).... More
