I can't remember the last time I was served frozen green beans in a restaurant and as though that wasn't bad enough they were soggy and discoloured from being overcooked. Tossing them in tarragon was apparently supposed to make it ok! The 'frites' were soft and greasy and the 'French onion soup' I had for starters was so disappointing I... More

We had the early bird menu here on a Tuesday evening. Service was good if a little tense and food was excellent. Would highly recommend, particularly before a night at the theatre.

We had a really enjoyable meal in Chez Max. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Really good snails for starters, and steak frites for main course. It's such a nice restaurant, with a really nice atmosphere. Intimate, cosy.

Had my birthday meal here last night. Everything from the table we sat at (tucked under the stairs) to the staff, who spoke to us in French , to the delicious snails, quail, ducks and mussels and even the extra portion of crispy bread, was fantastic. Lovely French music playing, romantic lighting. Great spot! We'll be back again !

Made a reservation for 2 on NYE, was given a sweet spot literally inside the kitchen which could be changed after requesting. The menu for fairly priced (€55) and included a glass of Kir Royal but the food was amongst the worse so called French-food I ever tasted (and I'm French). Starters: A strange mix of Rillettes and Goose liver... More

We loved this cozy brasserie close to our hotel. Food was delicious and atmosphere was bustling and fun. No healthy options (lots of butter and/or cream), but the dietary splurge was worth it.

A Saturday evening coming up to Christmas is not a great time to be walking in looking for a table. Yet, we got one in The Garden Room. It's a small space at the back that is covered but yet outside. Thankfully there is no smoking. We got a very cosy table in a corner. The staff were very attentive... More

I recently visited this restaurant with some friends and we all agreed that the food was amazing. I got to try snails for the first time and they were surprisingly tasty! The cheese and meat platter for dessert is gorgeous. The only negative was that the duck was slightly overcooked - the waiter recommended medium but it was served well... More

Have been to Chez Max two times. Once just for coffee & snack and the secnond time for a pre-show meal. Arrived around 6.30pm one evening without a booking and was (surprizingly!) shown to a table. Had intended just to get something quick & light, but when we studied the menu there were many tasty and good value options to... More
