Authentic French cuisine

After struggling to decipher the small menu print in the darkened interior of this quaint restaurant, I reckoned in retrospect that any of the choices would have been a winner anyway. Excellent early bird menu & good quality food. Smoked salmon starter was large & mussels for main were plentiful. Reasonable priced wine.

Chez Max looks inviting from the outside and we were not disappointed when we went into the comfortable interior. There is a small outside terrace at the front and a very compact enclosed, covered terrace at the rear. The restaurant tries to be authentically French and comes pretty close to pulling it off. For lunch we had a choice of... More

Authentic french bistro in middle of Dublin City, staff greet you in french, not that it's intimidating, it's friendly and adds to the atmosphere. Was here for lunch on Sunday, shared starter and had main each. Moules frites was huge serving. Food was great and not bad price. Wine list a little pricey.

We went there to enjoy a dessert. The price is normal for a good dessert but they were small and a bit disappointing. We ordered 2 coffees which were cold and the waitress who looked new cleared things before we finished. It looks French and cosy but food and service was not good enough. We wanted to get to know... Had lunch there just last week and had a good quality meal of good value served excellently by the staff. Tasty starter and a very good Salade Landaise hit the mark. Coffee was very good served efficiently and quickly

There is a reason why you see a lot of French people there: when we miss real French food, that's where we go. Just the typical French restaurant, but in the middle of Dublin. Reasonable prices, good food, great wine.

If you are in Dublin, but dreaming of Paris then pick a sunny afternoon to drop into Chez Max and you will instantly feel you have been transported to an arrondissement. The platters are superb with lots of choice, served with crusty French bread that compliments it perfectly. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is easy... More

This is a really lovely little restaurant with a real Parisian feel in the heart of Dublin. The staff are lovely and warm and the food was really good. A little on the expensive side but well worth it for the experience. Would definitely return.
