Superb French surprise in the middle of Dublin

brought clients here for a small dinner. The starter (moules mariniere), the main rib-eye beef from the butcher's corner and the dauphinoise potatoes were all perfectly flavoured and to die for. An excellent wine list and attentive team of staff rounded off a perfect evening. A small and perfect... read more

Came here for an early bird, but found it very unexciting. The staff were very attentive, however a little too attentive, they gathered at the kitchen door and reached across the table to pick up plates, very unprofessional. I had the mackerel to start, vegetable lasagne for main and creme brulee for dessert. All were very bland and unexciting, not top... More

This little restaurant has been around for twenty years and has become a firm favourite with some people - we tend to forget about it, but our experience there at the weekend that it will be more to the forefront of our consciousness in future! Very good traditional French bistro food, pleasant service, and nice atmosphere. We shan't leave quite... More

An early evening visit, fairly brief as one of us was recovering from a recent illness. Charming and informative service and no surprise that we were just having a main course. Delicious food, generous portions (too many frites in fact). Well cooked and well garnished.

Four of us revisited La Mere Zou yesterday for lunch. We have not been back there for a while so it was good to get reacquainted. Having taken possession of a pair of two-for-one vouchers (€24.50 each) recently, it proved to be exceptionally good value. The menu was varied and there were plenty of alternatives on the blackboard. Two of... More

I went here with a friend on my first evening in Dublin. I would advise booking in advance as it gets busy. The food was delicious and wine chosen for us by the waiter was lovely too. The service could have been more prompt as it took a while before we got their attention even to pay the bill. However,... More

Recommended by a friend we visited this little gem of a restaurant. On a rainy spring evening in Dublin we walked just five minutes from our hotel. Passing many attractive restaurants on the way. The temptation to visit many of them was incredible Dublin is a joyful gastronomic delight. We walked on and how grateful we were. On arrival we... More

My first dining experience in this centrally located small restaurant which overall I enjoyed and will return To. Parking was not a problem. Verty pleasant and professional head waiter greeted me as soon as we entered, took my coat. She came across as a friendly and warm person. I noted the menu to be expensive.... chose the cold meats for... More

La mere Zou is an intimate little French restaurant in Stephen's Green in the heart of Dublin. The staff are mostly authentic French and are extremely warm and friendly, and demonstrate a knowledge and passion for the food and wine they serve. The daily specials always sound great, but on this instance we stuck to the menu with black pudding/Apple... More

A small romantic style restaurant just below street level in St stephen's green. French is the main influence, and the food is really good. Service is efficient, and not "over-fast", so its an excellent location for a relaxed and long meal..but can cater too for the "pre theatre" meal. it was a really nice surprise to have food of this...
