Description: Thornton's Restaurant is an award winning Michelin starred restaurant located in the heart of Dublin City overlooking the leafy expanse of St Stephen's Green. Innovative and exquisite cuisine, presentation referred to as 'artwork on a plate' and service often compared to a theatrical performance make for a truly memorable experience at Thornton's Restaurant. There is attention to detail in every aspect of the experience, from the intricate food through to the impressive wine list and professional service. Our changing menu reflects the seasonal and local produce available to us and underpins our passion for reigniting the importance of the seasons. Working closely with our providers that supply us with the highest quality of ingredients, we can ensure that our produce is ethically sourced, sustainable and most importantly the best we can obtain. Head Chef and Proprietor Kevin Thornton is widely regarded as Ireland's best chef. Having featured in everything from the Irish Times to the New York Times, Thornton's is celebrated as one of the best restaurants in Ireland and is also internationally commended.

I visited with my boyfriend in April for a special birthday celebration. I had mentioned the birthday both when making the reservation and also when confirming it. Throughout the whole dining experience it was never mentioned once. Our pre dinner drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive, at this point we had already ordered and I did not wish to... More

This restaurant does not deserve a michelin star, or any star. It is Ordinary, reasoanble good food, but nothing special, and given the prices I would not recommend going there but look for more reasonablly priced restauramts. I choose this place because I was captivated by the "Clever" web site they have , and what I believed was "Michelin" i.e.... More

Excellent restaurant, I have been to many Michelin starred restaurant, and this is really good value for money, beautiful food and good service, and the nonsense about Mr.Thornton being a hot head, when he was a gentleman that put my girlfriends jacket on for her and thanked us for coming and walked us out. Should get its second star back!!!!!!

Came with a friend for the pre-theatre. On checking the menu we noticed that there wasn't a suitable vegetarian option. Within minutes a suitable alternative was presented to my friend. The chefs starter of capaccio was fabulous before moving into the belly pork which was moist and delicious. Followed this with the beef. So tender and melt in the mouth,... More

I stole my title from a well-known restaurant critic's review of an Edinburgh establishment in which she lamented the use of slates for serving food as they don't keep the food hot, liquids dribble of, they are heavy, impractical and dated. I thought of this review as I ate through my six courses of Thorntons tasting menu from a variety... More

We were very impressed by this restaurant and having been to a number of Michelin Star restaurants we have to say this is way up there. We had the tasting menu and wine, the service was very good and timed well. As for the food, the menu was clearly very well thought out and the quality was outstanding. The chef... More

Our evening was impacted by a family with young children, who were quiet vocal. We were distracted from the food and hampered our overall experience. When we were leaving at 21.50, the restaurant staff were dismissive of our complaint. Not an inexpensive night out, therefore we left unsatisfied, especially feeling for other diners if they had organised babysitters for their... More

Saturday 14th September was our first experience of eating out in a michelin star restaurant and we were not disappointed. The staff at Thornton's restaurant were both friendly and attentive and welcomed us with open arms. The food that was brought to our table was nearly too good to eat and even the photos we took didn't do the presentation... More

My husband and I had a lovely evening for our Anniversary at Thornton's Restaurant. It was my first visit, my husband has been with friends and clients. I was a bit apprehensive as I am not very adventurous with new tastes and do not eat fish at all. I had the Beetroot salad which was lovely, the Beetroot jelly was... More
