Four of us flew to Dublin for the day. High light was the meal at Thorntons which was inventive beautifully cooked and presented. I have been to some very good and well known restaurants this year and Thorntons was up there with the best. Thanks

Our recent visit to Thornton's was hugely enjoyable. Food was excellent, inventive but not overly fussy, with great flavours. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and relaxed. Highlights were the oyster, spaghetti and caviar amuse, the 'Eireyu' beef and the excellent chocolate soufflé. Irish elements (a squid ink and poteen 'baby Guinness' shot with the starter for example)... More

Booked for lunch, arrived on time, but menus weren't ready. An omen of things to come! 10mins later menus arrived. Pigs head pork starter, really tasty and unusual which was accompanied by a shot glass of squid ink, poteen and a creamy foam, delicious. Hake starter well cooked with nice touch of potato chip scales, broth that fish was in... More

Ate on a Friday night, had the tasting menu and wine pairing. The previous reviewer is correct about the food, visually stunning and a few great dishes (the lamb, the fish and lemongrass) but certain parts were inedible (the seaweed spaghetti, crispy fish skin) and many courses no better than ok (the dessert, the scallops) The wine pairing offers five... A Michelin star restaurant has certain connotations associated with it; beautiful presentations, alternative takes on classics, and gustatory delights. Thorntons delivered on a few of these, but failed spectacularly on others. My partner and I both had the tasting menu on a weekday. The restaurant had less than 5 tables occupied, so I figured that we would be able to... More

I booked this restaurant solely because of the dessert in the above title. It was recommended by a family member as well. When it comes to food I'm a desserterian. The only reason I go to dinner is for dessert. Best bread and butter pudding ever Maguires pub Baggot Street. Best raspberry pannacotta ever Rinucini Kilkenny. Best crema Catalana Quinze... More

I booked this restaurant as a corporate event and it was the ideal location . We had the semi private dining area which was a superb area . Service was very friendly and professional and I thought that chef, Kevin Thornton coming out to the table to explain exactly what was on offer on the menu was a particularly nice... More

I visited with my boyfriend in April for a special birthday celebration. I had mentioned the birthday both when making the reservation and also when confirming it. Throughout the whole dining experience it was never mentioned once. Our pre dinner drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive, at this point we had already ordered and I did not wish to... More

This restaurant does not deserve a michelin star, or any star. It is Ordinary, reasoanble good food, but nothing special, and given the prices I would not recommend going there but look for more reasonablly priced restauramts. I choose this place because I was captivated by the "Clever" web site they have , and what I believed was "Michelin" i.e.... More
