''Good the first time, so returned again''

On our first night in Dublin we toured the Temple Bar area as most visitors do, especially as we had dinner in mind. We had tried various venues, though there always seemed to be a waiting element of 30 - 45 minutes. We had previously tried the Boxty House though the wait was too much. See my... read more

I visited here on Sunday 23rd August as a group of four adults and six children. I should have realised from the moment we were seated it was going to be a disaster, the waiter who greeted us stated that this was a restaurant and that we must make sure a children behave, now as a parent I understand that... We visited the restaurant on the 17th of August and I must say the food and service were horrible. We were in 7, for of us ordered an Irish stew (€16 each), I must say that the beef and sauce were completely tasteless. I ordered a Irish rib eye steak (€24), half of my steak was fat that I had... We stumbled upon The Shack our first night in Dublin as we made our way through the packed crowds. Just arriving on an evening flight from Paris, we hadn't checked TripAdvisor for any restaurant reviews, and we had no clue what to expect. Boy, did we get lucky. The food was absolutely delicious. Our group of 8 included adults, teens,... More

The service was excellent at The Shack and the food was well-prepared and delicious. The prices will not break your pocketbook, either.

A nice looking restaurant in a vibrant and constantly buzzing part of the city. Yet the food does not truly fit the bill. A good spot to eat to sample the area. Not the greatest food you will eat in the city.

Fantastic place for dinner after a drink at the famous Temple Bar pub directly opposite. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the Irish Beef casserole was exceptional. They also have a number of very reasonably priced excellent wines and the banoffee pie was superb!

My wife and I went here for dinner since we had a Buy-One-Get-One offer with our sight-seeing tour bus ticket. Note that you need to have two tickets to get this offer, otherwise it is 1/2 off the second meal. When we arrived there was a line waiting to be seated and since it was raining we weren't anxious to... More

As part of our Dublin trips ,we always go on the Hop On Hop Off Tour on the Red Buses. This entitles you to a 2 for 1 meal deal and we visited The Shack in Temple Bar. We were there in Oct and Nov 14 and really enjoyed now our 3rd visit. Nice atmosphere and good food as well.Great... More

Over priced and food that is quite frankly........meh. The salad was "from a bag" and the Guinness stew was dry and fatty. It was busy and you felt like you should move along so the next folks can be seated. Nothing "irish" about it......had WAY better irish food elsewhere.
