The Shack......value for money and good food!!

As part of our Dublin trips ,we always go on the Hop On Hop Off Tour on the Red Buses. This entitles you to a 2 for 1 meal deal and we visited The Shack in Temple Bar. We were there in Oct and Nov 14 and really enjoyed now our 3rd visit. Nice atmosphere and good food as well.Great... read more

Over priced and food that is quite frankly........meh. The salad was "from a bag" and the Guinness stew was dry and fatty. It was busy and you felt like you should move along so the next folks can be seated. Nothing "irish" about it......had WAY better irish food elsewhere.

We chose to eat here as it was one of the 2 for 1 meal deals with our citysightseeing bus ticket. We were pleasantly surprised that it had a nice atmosphere, good location, and was very good. We enjoyed our meals and you can't beat the price!!

Friendly staff and fairly efficient. The Irish Beef was a good pot-roast served with a potato cake (probably frozen and re-heated prepared) and good fresh vegetables. My companion had the Irish Stew which he liked. You will not do badly here, but it will not be your most memorable meal either.

On a day in Dublin before flying onwards, so we decided to check out the tourist area. Peckish after a day's walking, we called in here for an early dinner. Staff are extremely welcoming and pleasant, and made us feel at ease straight away. Starters were good, youngest and I had crab cakes, which were all you'd expect in a... More

Situated in the Temple bar area, a short walk from Dublin Castle. We called in for lunch. Steak was nice but pepper sauce not great. Friend loved the fish and chips. Had to wait quite a while but we were in no rush. Wifi worked well, but it was a very complicated code which was sitting on our table.

The shack is right in the tourist spot of temple bar so it gets very busy! We were very lucky as the restaurant was packed but a couple had just left. Me and my partner both had the Lamb shank which was lovely really hearty for a cold summers evening. Would highly recommend!

Ill start with saying the lamb shank was delicious and one of the best Ive tasted, falling off the bone! in great location, semi-traditional Irish decor. Doesn't get the 5 stars because I fee the service should be done by Irish (regardless done very well) and Irish dishes, particularly side dishes look plain and lifeless. Still a decent restaurant in... More

Right across the street from the famed bar, we had an agreeable lunch. The restaurant offers a lunch special--sort of a fixed menu--for €10-15. My lamb stew was tasty and the mussels were good. Service was slow to start but servers were professional. A good choice in an area that's hit-and-miss in terms of good food.

Went in the recommendation of the hop on hop off tour bus ticket sales person. The food was brutal. Mushy microwaved broccoli and carrots, "shepards pie" aka ground beef with potato thrown on top, potato skins were completely plain without the cheese and bacon promised in the menu, crab cakes from a frozen box, irish stew had one potato and...
