I called into Russels pub, Ranelagh with my wife and daughter-in-law on a cold january-like April evening because it looked warm and inviting. The exterior is quite ordinary but the ceilings and panellings are nothing less than magnificent, oak and gothic, worthy of a castle. The pub was noisy but pleasant, a nice clientele with no raucousness and large screen... More

I was here a few weeks back and impressed with the service. I popped in with some friends recently for our Sunday lunch again. The rugby was on so it was busy. Even so, the staff were great and I noticed they've changed the menu. Much improved I have to day. Carbonara was great - the real deal. Overall we... More

I visited here with a large group on a Friday evening. We hadn't booked and turned up in dribs and drabs with only a few of us eating. I must say they coped with us very well! I've been there this week because I heard that the Master Chef Luca Mazza, (the best Italian Mediterranean chef in Dublin, in my opinion), now is working at Russells and the food is really great! Perfect place to enjoy very nice drinks, excellent food and a really gorgeous place! 100% approved!

Once this was just another slightly upmarket bar in Ranelagh and nothing more but the years have been kind to Russells. The decor is fantastic and the food is better than it used to be. In fact, for pub grub it is very good. Try it out some Summer's evening and enjoy sitting out on the terrace.
