O'Connells delights in being an Irish Restaurant serving menus with the best Irish ingredients, local, free-range, wild and organic when possible. We are more relaxed at lunch-time and in the evening we add table cloths for a nicer ambiance. We are a medium priced restaurant with an Early Bird Menu being served all evening - seven days a week. We are known for best value dining and being Coeliac Friendly. In 2012 O'Connells has been double awarded Best Casual Dining in Ireland by The Irish Independent Restaurant Awards and The National Hospitality Awards. O'Connells features in The Bridgestone Guide and in Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide. Our Food is a Family Affair - Today is Yesterday - Tomorrow is Yesterday - nothing has changed. At O’Connells our recipes and dishes have long deep roots. Our Mother was born in 1925 her Mother in the 1890’s.One family food ethic has remained constant - a respect for the land, the sea, the producer and the cook. We are happy to share our family’s passion for the food of the island of Ireland through our menus.

What a great find right outside of Dublin.

We like this restaurant so much it ended up being a go to place when we were in Dublin. We had a lovely lunch with smoked trout and salads. We had a fabulous dinner whole roasted chicken with stuffing vegetables potatoes and of course the wonderful Irish bread that I couldn't live without. Since it... read more

Had a wonderful farewell dinner here. The lamb shank was delicious as well as the sides and the dessert. Service was very good.

Excellent dinner in a Dublin residential area. The starter buffet was spectacular and the main course outstanding. Highly recommended.

The food was fine and the service slow. But what surprised me was that as the waiter cleaned the table, he will collect the sliverware that was on the table and apparently not used and re-stoking them to the silverware bin. This is not a good practice since they should have been send to the dishwashers all items all dishware... More

Good Evening Eduardo H, What you describe is absolutely unacceptable. It is not an acceptable practice under any circumstances what-so-ever. It is not meant to to happen and it will not happen again. Thank you for highlighting this - please accept my assurances that all staff will be briefing according as of opening of business tomorrow. Tom O'Connell, Proprietor More

We were a tour group of 35 and came to O'Connells for our "farewell dinner". We weren't disappointed. The meal was fantastic, accompanied by a guitarist/singer. We had Irish Soda Bread, and after the meal, the owner gave us the recipe and a complete demonstration on how to make it. This is probably not what a general tourist would experience... More

We had a disappointing experience here recently with a group of friends celebrating a birthday. O'Connells used to be one of the best restaurants in Donnybrook offering good Irish food at a moderate price. But now they have changed their menu and the early bird menu has a very limited choice. It certainly does not cater seriously for vegetarians -... More

Had dinner here the last night of a tour with a group of 46, and it was probably the best meal of our trip. Having traveled all over Ireland and Northern Ireland, I finally got a delicious lamb shank. But the best part of all was that the restaurant was so tuned in to the needs of my wife, who... More

We arrived a little early for our booking and had a drink in the bar. This was a busy restaurant but service was very good. We were pleased with the quality of the food. We received a complimentary irish coffee courtesy of being guests of the Donnybrook Hall Hotel

Our first night in Donnybrook and we found this wonderful restaurant close to where we were staying. We wandered in fairly early (we had been travelling all the night before and were hungry and ready for an early night) and were really not dressed appropriately for dinner. However, absolutely no problem at all. We were greeted warmly, given an excellent... More

Thank you Rosalind P for your lovely review of O'Connells, We are very very pleased to read that we presented you with an enjoyable meal.
