Good food and atmosphere

Really enjoyed O'connells. It was not too formal but very professional service and fresh ingredients. I started with buffalo mozzarella salad, which included an olive tapenade that made it jump out. As a main course, I had chicken carved table side. It was great, chicken was tasty and perfectly... read more

irish hospitality, excellent food with local products from farms make this restaurant my favorite although it is not in the central part of Dublin. it was full with local families and not tourists, so you really mingle with the locals when you are there.

Dinner for 8 people and second serves of vegtables arrived a few minutes later which second half of friends received. Cold cabbage Cold potatoes and cold but nice irish beef was... More

Thank you Wigawig for your Review of O'Connells. I wish to apologise unreservedly for the unacceptable lapse on your Main Course. Hot food must be hot, served efficiently and promptly. This we failed to do for your dinner and for this I ask you to accept our most genuine apologies. Our Chef, Restaurant Manager and I have spoken about your... More

I made a return visit to O'Connells for dinner after an absence of some years. We were a party of 4 with 8pm booking. Water and a small plate of very basic bread arrived and then there was a long gap before service. A short wine list on main menu was backed up on request with a full beverage list.... More

We had a wonderful family meal on Sunday . I was very surprised a few weeks ago when the man himself Mr O Connell arrived at my door with a voucher a gift from my daughter. So my daughter was visiting and we all headed for a wonderful meal. What you get here is decent honest wholesome food in a... More

I have been living in Ranelagh for the last 2 years but it was only yesterday that I made the short walk to Donnybrook to have Sunday lunch with my aunt in O'Connell's. We were greeted promptly upon arrival. We were taken to a window seat and the set menu was explained to us. We ordered water and a very... More

We were not looking for this sort of dining but once inside couldn't have been more surprised. At first I thought it was expensive but there were well priced items on the menu that made it okay. The service was top notch and so was the food. We watched as a customer at another table had their food sliced, basted... More

This was our fourth attempt to get a table over the last four weeks, so we had high expectations of O'Connells as it seemed to be very popular. We left disappointed, and my generally accepting husband and I agreed that we would not seek to eat here again. When we arrived at 6.30, our unsmiling waiter briskly told us that... More

Excellent food and service. Personal attention from the proprietor was an added plus. The variety of cold courses was amazing.
