This was a group dinner and the owner explained to us they marinate the lamb shank in wine for 48 hours. Never had lamb shank before but so glad we tried as it was a meal to remember. The restaurant is at bit out of central Dublin in the suburbs but it is work the trip.

I recently enjoyed a dinner here as part of a larger group. The salad and beef were delicious, but I absolutely loved the rhubarb crisp. It was the perfect combination of tart and sweet. The service provided was consistent and attentive. We enjoyed the live Irish music during our meal. The large tables were ideal for enjoying conversation with companions.... More

I visited for lunch recently with some work colleagues and left feeling under impressed. We waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive even though the restaurant was no more than a quarter full. They did, however, offer a complimentary cup of cream/soup because of this. I ordered the avocado and roasted red pepper caesar salad (it's worth noting that... More

Every year my family go to this restaurant to celebrate the new year, (I am the eldest son at 18). I am always so happy at the service and the friendliness of the staff. (Particularly a waiter named Giorgio, cool guy) The food was very good but not exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant for any family occasion. Our family... More

I was nervous about organising a late lunch for 10 people as I am aware some restaurants, understandably, stop serving promptly at 2:30pm. Annette was most helpful when I booked and assured me that it would be OK if the conferring ceremony at UCD ran late. We booked for 1:30pm but with long speeches and photo sessions, didn't arrive till... More

Dinner last night at O'Connell's was exceptional. We were with a small group (10) and had dinner as part of our your. 3 course meal and 2 glasses of wine/beer included. It is a Rae evening when all 10 found the meal and experience to be exceptional! The lamb shank was moist, flavorful, and falling off the bone. The strip... More

I went for an early bird on Friday. The service from the young gentleman was so poor for the first time I can remember I did not leave a tip. The steak was poor. Sorry for the poor review but I was genuinely disappointed.

Took my mother here during our recent stay in Dublin and we enjoyed every course. The friendly staff explained the finer points of Irish cuisine and even convinced me to try black pudding. The ice cream was especially memorable.

This is both an excellent restaurant and a dinner with "family". Tom, the owner greeted us with a demonstration of how to make the delicious Brown Bread served here. He explained the menu, took our order and tended to our every need as if we were members of his family ( which we felt we were). The food was exceptional:... More
