Description: O'Connells delights in being an Irish Restaurant serving menus with the best Irish ingredients, local, free-range, wild and organic when possible. We are more relaxed at lunch-time and in the evening we add table cloths for a nicer ambiance. We are a medium priced restaurant with an Early Bird Menu being served all evening - seven days a week. We are known for best value dining and being Coeliac Friendly. In 2012 O'Connells has been double awarded Best Casual Dining in Ireland by The Irish Independent Restaurant Awards and The National Hospitality Awards. O'Connells features in The Bridgestone Guide and in Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide. Our Food is a Family Affair - Today is Yesterday - Tomorrow is Yesterday - nothing has changed. At O’Connells our recipes and dishes have long deep roots. Our Mother was born in 1925 her Mother in the 1890’s.One family food ethic has remained constant - a respect for the land, the sea, the producer and the cook. We are happy to share our family’s passion for the food of the island of Ireland through our menus.

Went fora group dinner as part of a tour. Choices were limited, however quality was excellent. Fish cake starter was fantastic. Chicken dish came with stuffing, potatoes and carrot/parsnip purée. All components were wonderful, chicken moist. A great meal was finished with a gorgeous Fruit Trifle. Unique presentation utilizing mason jars. Service was excellent with prompt attention and professional attitude.... More

Went for an early bird recently with a couple of friends and have to say I am already looking forward to a return visit. Had forgotten how good the place is, from the excellent wines suggested by our waiter which were no problem to try first to the offer of tea or coffee while we waited for our taxi. Starters... More

We came to O'Connells on recommendation from the Four Seasons hotel. It's a nice, upscale bistro pub that's easy to find. We were seated right away and all was as expected until the manager came to our table and said a nicer table (nothing wrong with the one we had) was opening in 2 minutes and we were welcome to... I have been to O'Connells so many times now I'm due a review. I'm a big fan so expect some gushing.... From early morning healthy breakfast, to charcoal organic chicken with all the trimmings - there is something for everyone on the menu. They have a great selection of fresh fish, and there are small potted desserts to sugar the... More

We ate here recently and for the first time in many years I ordered steak with potato straws. I wasn't wrong, it was fantastic! I asked for rare steak but it was almost blue so they cooked it for another minute and it was amazing as were the 'straws'. My husband also loved his turbot. The service was fine, a... More

This was our second visit to this restaurant in the past year. Love the ambience of the place. Value rating is based on using a deal voucher. We dined on a Thursday, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy but the service was poor. There were plenty of staff but appeared to be disorganised. Bread & water were delivered promptly but we... Liked: The food is excellent using high quality ingredients, taster dessert selection a great idea, their Groupon deals from time to time are super value, Mr O'Connell himself is very warm and welcoming Disliked: Our service was patchy, waiter kept forgetting to pour our wine, red wine was cold, not enough water or bread on table, noisy sprawled out room,... Met a friend here for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy but we had booked in advance. We arrived about 8.45 and were only served at about 9.30. There was a long gap between each course so I would rate the service as poor. We ordered chicken and I ordered the lamb which was a big... More
