O'Connells delights in being an Irish Restaurant serving menus with the best Irish ingredients, local, free-range, wild and organic when possible. We are more relaxed at lunch-time and in the evening we add table cloths for a nicer ambiance. We are a medium priced restaurant with an Early Bird Menu being served all evening - seven days a week. We are known for best value dining and being Coeliac Friendly. In 2012 O'Connells has been double awarded Best Casual Dining in Ireland by The Irish Independent Restaurant Awards and The National Hospitality Awards. O'Connells features in The Bridgestone Guide and in Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide. Our Food is a Family Affair - Today is Yesterday - Tomorrow is Yesterday - nothing has changed. At O’Connells our recipes and dishes have long deep roots. Our Mother was born in 1925 her Mother in the 1890’s.One family food ethic has remained constant - a respect for the land, the sea, the producer and the cook. Best cooking starts with the best Irish ingredients

This has the atmosphere of a favourite local bistro. It features a wide range of nationally sourced dishes. We had the pate and chorizo starters, trout and lamb shank for mains, served with a good range of vegetables done the way we like. I heard of this when Tom O'Connell was featured in an... read more

Brought my mother here for Sunday lunch as a birthday treat. It was busy admittedly. In spite of my mother heavily relying on a walking stick, we were seated at a table with church like pews for seating. These were extremely difficult for her to negotiate as they were impossibly tight to the table. We were given a basket with... More

Highly recommend! The menu has something for everyone. The wine we had was particularly good and I wish had taken note of what it was! The 'bird' menu is excellent value. Service was wonderful. Meal was delicious!

I took my two staff here for Christmas lunch and they could not have been more accommodating or helpful with the fact that we had a coeliac guest. They explained everything on the menu to us. The food was lovely, the service attentive but unobtrusive and the price for tthe three of us was very reasonable.

I was in Dublin with a group of 10 and we were booked into O'Connells for a meal on Tuesday night. I had not been here before and didn't know it wasn't a pub anymore. The decor remains very similar to when it was a bar, the toilets have been renovated and are spotless. The service is first class, The... More

We celebrated 2 birthdays on 6 December- staff managed to mix up the ages of the two people concerned on the cake inscription- this in spite of reminding the manager earlier. Staff are inexperienced and some have difficulties with English . Our meal was mediocre and there were not enough vegetables for 10 people. A table cloth would have been... More

Good Afternoon Catherine d, We are most disappointed to read your review and hasten to address our apologies for not delivering on what should have been a wonderful occasion for your entire party. I arrived to have dinner amidst large Xmas parties. They made a plan to squeeze me in and seat me. I managed to have a good meal, full choice of options and have friendly service. Food was good. I chose simple things, so can't really comment on the excellence of the chef. The service and the friendly nature will make... More

Whenever I'm in Dublin I always try to visit Tom O'Connell's excellent restaurant in Donnybrook - this time it was for lunch on a busy Saturday but Tom found us a table and gave us his recommendations for our food. My guest started with winter vegetable soup which he said was excellent and I had the smoked salmon which I... More
