My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at l’Ecrivian. The salmon and goat’s cheese starters were just delicious. Our main courses of duck and cod were mouth watering. The cod was crispy on the skin side and perfectly flaky and moist on the flesh side. Scrumptious. I was a little let down that the side was boiled potatoes... more

Having stayed at a couple of Blue Book properties recently I decided to try out a couple of the Dublin properties that are also in the guide. All very good but l'Ecrivain surpassed them all. The choice was perfect, pricy but well worth every morsel, service was attentive and friendly without the fawning you often get in Michelin star restaurants.... more

The ambience is rather odd, a chapel sized room with a yellowish "Charles Rennie Mackintosh style" glass wall on one side which gives a rather dull atmosphere. However the menu was exciting and the welcome warm so we were looking forward to our meal, which by the way we had booked three months earlier on a recommendation. The food looked... more

My partner and I went thre for his birthday last night. We chose the tasting menu with wine pairing, 125 euros per person (85 without wine pairing). Expensive indeed but well worth it. In Dublin a lot of restaurants charge around 50 euros a head for a 3 course meal (that you could cook at home yourself) with wine. Here,... more

I was worried when my Irish friends talked me into going to L'ecrivain for dinner because I usually find fine dining unpleasantly stuffy. I was wonderfully surprised to have such a relaxing, comfortable meal. The service was extremely professional and efficient but also warm and relaxed. The dinner I had there was definitely the best I've had in Ireland. more

We were in Dublin for a friend's wedding and we had a limited amount of time so we tried to do as much as we could in the few days that we had. Several of my friends had been to L'Ecrivain and wanted to go back, unfortunately I did not call for reservations until the afternoon of the last night... more

I have patronized scores of fine restaurants in dozens of countries and have never had a great an experience as I did at L'Ecrivain. The food was exquisite, nicely explained, beautifully presented, perfectly paced. The elegant and sophisticated atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. The meal there was meant to be the capstone of our trip to Ireland and it fulfilled... more

My husband Leo and I had a delightful dining experience at L'Ecrvain in Dublin last night.. As Ameicans celebrating our Irish roots, it was lovely to spend our 25h wedding anniverary in warm Gaelic atomosphere under potratis James Joyce and Seamus Heaney. My husband ordered the suckling pig with tortellini and baby vegetable salads and I had the seared scallops... more

My wife and I visited L'Ecrivan towards the end of our stay in Dublin, and we wished we'd done it earlier - then we would have had time to repeat the process. We've eaten around a fair bit, and the intent of our Dublin trip was to try several restaurants which had been recommended to us over the years -... more

Frommer's said this is the #1 place to go and I want to know why? Food was pretty good, I have definately had better...Atmosphere was stuffy and a tad on the arrogant side. Service was good with the rotating staff but personally I prefer a one on one with just one waiter. After 2 hours I didn't know who to... more
