A wonderful introduction to Il Primo

I'd been meaning to try it for years, the small space inside the window of this restaurant on Montague Street intrigued me. Then a Rewarding Times for Il Primo landed into my inbox. For 69 EUR, for two people we got a three course meal and a bottle of house wine. I started with a tomato and... read more

As far as I can work out this place has closed down. It is gutted and there is scaffolding up. I am suprised there has been no notification on their website or twitter.

In spite of the nice and authentic atmosphere, the food was rather disappointing and really overpriced. The food came barely 10 min after we ordered which isn't really a sign of freshness. The risotto was watery. The scallops not really fresh and tasted like meat while the meat tasted like fish. Do they fry everything in the same pan? The... More

I visited here last Saturday, I had bought a Rewarding Times voucher for a three course meal for two including a bottle of house wife. I had read good things about the chef and the food. The first impression as we approached was not great, it looked small with a bar area and seating. We were greeting by a extremely... More

I usually write only good reviews - "if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all" - but I feel I must write about our experience at this restaurant. Six of us planned a day ahead to get a dinner and then get to the Theater by 7:00 p.m. to see "The Field". We were... More

We spent two nights at a nearby hotel and ended up eating dinner at Il Primo because it was close by and their reviews were impressive. 1st Mistake: - we did not have reservations and we were told they were booked when we walked in the door. We said no problem - and turned around to leave - we were... More

We had a voucher and usually expect that we will be treated accordingly. However we were pleasantly surprised. The food was plentiful, and beautifully presented by a very professional waitress. The wine, although there was only a choice of one red or one white, was really very good. The only downside in Il Primo, and we have been here before,... More

I read the reviews on this site before I went for my meal with my RT voucher. I was concerned, to say the least. However, to those of you who still have their vouchers, I would like to allay your fears. I had a very pleasant meal, in the main dining room, with great service. We opted for the early... More

Remembered the Il Primo of old and bought a rewarding times voucher to re-experience. Bad mistake. Was told could only have a table from 5:15 on a Friday evening till 19:15 - don't know why the place was empty and remained so for a good hour and a half. Menu not great but food was awful - any italian should... More
