B Edinburgh "authentic italian, recommended and well worth a visit"

We were recommended this Italian restaurant by local bar staff and other Dubliners " if you want an Italian in Dublin then this is it " . My brother-in -law is the Manager of a well known Italian restaurant in Edinburgh so I'm used to good quality food. My 3 friends and I who all love Italian... read more

We had an early dinner here before going home.place was clean.staff okay. The food i thought average but some of the party thought it was above average,I found the bruschetta very hard. The tiramasu was tasty. The house wine white and the red was lovely. My friend had a coffee and said it was the best she had had in dublin. They... More

We have been dining in Il Baccaro for many years and always found it excellent as an an authentic Trattoria. However last night we arrived to our table at 7:25pm, ordered and 45 minutes later our starter arrived.1 hour and 15 minutes after our arrival the main course had still not arrived so we decided to leave. On paying for... More

Even though we arrived quite late for our reservation, staff were very kind and welcoming. Antipasti to start severd with crusty bread, I felt like I was in a small eatery in Italy. Veal "saltimbocca" for main and my partner had scoglio pasta. Both amazing. Our lovely waiter recommended an excellent organic white Capolemole. All in all a truly wonderful... More

This restaurant looks good enough but the menu is very limited and the waiting staff are very unfriendly in a subtle way. They are all smiles to your face but not so nice in reality. I was sick for days after eating here. There are very few options for vegetarians so I asked for a vegetarian version of the risotto.... More

We decided to try Il Baccaro after reading several reviews on it, and must say we were very impressed with both the food and the level of service we received. The restaurant was bigger than we expected but the layout of 2 separate vault rooms really made it feel warm and personal. We starters and mains and both our meals... More

I dined very recently with a very good friend in IL Baccaro. We availed of the pre-theatre menu which gave great choice & value for money. The meal was served in a very timely manner allowing adequate time between courses. Our waiter was both professional & friendly and seated us close to a radiator as the night was rather cool.... I am Italian and went to this restaurant as it was recommended to me by some friends in the past. I was told it does excellent fish dishes and also looking at the picture here in tripadvisor I was expecting seafood linguine, calamari, mussels etc. The menu instead was mostly meat based with very little vegetarian choice and no fish... Went here as the ferry was delayed by 6 hours so needed to have dinner. Went with colleagues. I found the vegetarian options somewhat limited. Olive starter was great, but the pasta based main course was all sauce and no pasta. Given the size of one of my colleagues' seafood dish, I felt a bit short-changed. He was actually disappointed... Myself and my wife went here on New Years eve at around 8pm to get out of town before 12. We had been here around 7 years ago and had a good experience back then. I have to say we were not dissappointed this time either. We didn't like the table we were given and were moved to a better... More
