Came accross The Boxty House by accident as we were looking for a place for lunch. Hearty food and good portions, with friendly staff and a pleasant bustling lunchtime atmosphere. Shepherd's pie comes in a wee individual pot with greens and soda bread. Very nice! The Irish stew was served up in a huge bowl with generous amounts of lamb.... More

My sister and I recently ate at this restaurant. It is located in a very busy and noisy Temple Bar area of Dublin. I haven't visited this area for a number of years and it has become very touristy. Bearing in mind its locality it is not a place for a quiet intimate dinner. The meal was excellent and the waiter... More

We went for the 3 course menu for 25€. We ordered the seafood chowder which was good. We then had the filet and mushroom Boxty which was average, would have preferred a filet. For dessert we had chocolate cake with salted Carmel and nuts, it was stale as was the bread served with the chowder. We ended up being charged... More

Seating can be a bit cramped, and prepare to have a table with strangers (common in Europe, but could be uncomfortable for some). We had a special deal: 3-course meal for €25. We both had the seafood stew for an appetizer (which needed lots of salt and pepper). Our main courses were chicken wrapped in boxty (a potato pancake) and... More

In Temple Bar area, this place recommended by local bar owner where you can get Irish Stew. Theme is old fashioned wooden tables and chairs, no music but good food and waiting staff. Had 6 rock oysters to start and a lunchtime bowl of irish stew - both delicious. They also offer a main of irish stew but the bowl... More

Mmmm.... Maybe it because I had an Irish grandmother who was genius in the kitchen (and with family / people), but I just didn't quite feel it here. The food was OK, nothing special. I've had better 'Irish stews' in local pubs, to be honest. Nothing wrong per se, just felt it was a bit bland and trying to hard... More

Didn't know what to expect when we walked in as we had never had boxty. It turned out to be a wonderful delightful surprise. Friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful the minute we walked thru the door. Food was delicious and service was very good and fast. There were three of us and we each... More

Good food and service, prices were good. Irish Stew and boxty bread were excellent. A bit hard to find on the street as it is a busy street.

If you're heading to Dublin, in particular the Temple Bar area, then I highly recommend The Boxty House. The food, service and atmosphere were all brilliant, I was very impressed. I'll definitely be returning when I head back.

I was reluctant to go here because I didn't want to spend quite as much as 15.90€ on a meal as I am on such a tight budget and I had found coddle at other restaurants on the same street for 8€-12€, but this place was recommended to me, it was a really nice restaurant and the fact that the... More

Hi there, Thank you for visiting us here at the Boxty House. Of course a stew or coddle is not hard to find in Dublin but one with a great flavor and a decent serving is a rarity. We are delighted that you enjoyed your coddle, we look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind regards, Katie More
