Chameleon in Temple Bar is an intimate, ambient restaurant that specialises in Indonesian rice-table. Rice table (or rijst-tafel) is when the diner is served an array of sumptuous different dishes, at the same time, from confit of pork belly with star anise to free range chicken satay to our delicious desserts, all made in-house! Its almost like Indonesian tapas!Since opening in 1994, its owners, husband and wife team, Carol & Kevin have made a point in using as much locally sourced Irish produce as possible, including only using free range Irish chicken and locally caught, seasonal Irish fish.Chameleon is ideal for a romantic get together or indeed, for your birthday party or Christmas party, as they can cater for groups of up to 40 in our private dining rooms.Winning may awards over the years in 2013 the Chameleon was voted Best World Cuisine in Ireland by the highly acclaimed Restaurants Association of Ireland

Superb. Unique experience, excellent value.

Found this restaurant by pure chance. You have a choice of eating at European style tables or on cushions with low tables. Thank you very much for your review, we are delighted you enjoyed our experience. We do try to make the vegetarian rijst-tafel diverse and interesting, we also have a vegan rijst-tafel available. Hope you will be back to us again in the near future. More

If you like Indonesian food this is a welcome change from the potato, haddock and all. Exceptional squid, pork belly, and tiger prawn. Okay noodle. Sit downstairs for service and upstairs for ambience. Nice location in temple bar. Not inexpensive for rice table but can do ala carte though we were not offered that menu. Perhaps not to obvious tourists?

I live in Dublin and for anyone visiting and wants to eat around the temple bar area and stay close to the action id highly recommend here. It is not "Irish" if that's what you are looking for but Ive eaten in many Asian restaurants and have been to south east Asia. I cant recommend this place any higher, well... More

To start with we waited for more than 30 minutes before I went downstairs to ask the person in charge to come (it's true we were waiting for 2 people, and they were waiting for that to happen, but my friends were starving and not a single waitress came and asked not even for the drinks or even looked at... I'm terribly sorry to hear you had such an experience, it is very bad to wait so long for your drink to be served, I really apologise and this week we are having a meeting with our team to ensure this never happens again. More

I love Indonesian food and seek it out whenever I can. (It's a little hard to find in Minneapolis.) Chameleon was fantastic. We had 2 rijstaffel, one with vegetables and the other with beef, chicken satay and pork belly. Terrific food and wonderful service. The restaurant is a quaint little spot, sort of a oasis of calm away from the... More

My boyfriend and I had a top notch dinner here, serves by helpful charming waitresses. The decor is gorgeous and quaint, the menu has something for everyone and is quite reasonable. I have recommended it to friends and can't wait to visit again!

The majority of the dishes tasted great but a couple lacked flavour in our opinion. We had 'rice tables' numbers 1 and 2. The surroundings were nicely decorated and the service was excellent.

Visited here this weekend for a birthday celebration. We had two different types of Rijstaffel and everything was good, especially the lamb, squid and the potato cakes. Also had a lovely carafe of wine and some beers. There is a lovely atmosphere and when you're inside this cosy restaurant you certainly don't feel as if the madness of Temple Bar... More

The service was excellent, the staff is absolutely charming and friendly. The small rooms with the sitting areas set a really cozy mood in the all restaurant that makes your meal really feel different. We took 2 menus with 7 dishes and everyone of those dishes was excellent. A great place to relax after a day walking through Dublin, discovering... More

This is a small and cozy restaurant. My husband and I came a little early in for our reservation so we sat at the bar and had a cocktail before dinner. The service was outstanding, very friendly and welcoming. We had one of their dinner menus, set menu of 7 courses, which was outstanding altogether.
