Chameleon in Temple Bar is an intimate, ambient restaurant that specialises in Indonesian rice-table. Rice table (or rijst-tafel) is when the diner is served an array of sumptuous different dishes, at the same time, from confit of pork belly with star anise to free range chicken satay to our delicious desserts, all made in-house! Its almost like Indonesian tapas!Since opening in 1994, its owners, husband and wife team, Carol & Kevin have made a point in using as much locally sourced Irish produce as possible, including only using free range Irish chicken and locally caught, seasonal Irish fish.Chameleon is ideal for a romantic get together or indeed, for your birthday party or Christmas party, as they can cater for groups of up to 40 in our private dining rooms.Winning may awards over the years in 2013 the Chameleon was voted Best World Cuisine in Ireland by the highly acclaimed Restaurants Association of Ireland

Fantastic Group Dinner

My friend and I went for an amazing evening meal to the Chameleon. We were a group of 20 (two teachers and 18 students) and were given a wonderful private room. We informed Kate about the budget we had available and they went out of their way to give us only the best and more than enough of it... read more

This restaurant is one of the best I have been to - I booked online via their website for dinner on our honeymoon and all aspects from start to finish were impeccable. The service is friendly and 5*, the surroundings and ambience in the restaurant were perfect. The other diners consisted of mainly couples but there was also a party... More

The format is simple. Set menus of 5-7 dishes bought out en masse. Great for sharing or hogging everything and then nicking some off my vegetarian wife's plate! The little range of condiments are a nice touch. My only fault would be that my meat dishes felt a little mass produced and should have been warmer. But they're busy, friendly... More

I have been to this restaurant 3 times in the past 12 months and it's very good. Chameleon is essentially a "tapas" format with set 5 or 6 menus (meat, fish, vegetarian). The restauarant is very cosy and has option of floor level cushion seating for a truly authentic experience! I prefer to eat upstairs, it feels more spacious that... More

My wife booked this as something different and romantic on our break in the city. My initial reaction to being seated upon cushions on an elevated platform with little space to fit my old arthritic knees under the table, was not positive.I will say that the food was generally well cooked and tasty, with the service being very attentive and pleasant.If... We ate here recently and although the decor/seating arrangement is initially a novelty (we were seated on the ground on cushions at a low table), I didn't feel the food lived up to the look and feel of the place. We found the food ok though all food comes out at once, is left on a heater and goes slightly... More

We recently went to this restaurant to celebrate my son's birthday and we were not disappointed. There were six of us and as four of us were "wrinkleys" (as in over 60's) my son asked that we be seated at a table rather than on the cushions at low tables which was more comfortable for us! The food was excellent... More

Thank you very much for your review and kind words, our business is a very competitive one and it is just as difficult in year 21 as it was in year 1. It is people like yourself who see the work that goes into preparing delicious food, not to mention the day to day operation of running a small business... More

The food was good but not spectacular. I grew up in the Netherlands myself. So I know what a good Rijst tafel is. Sadly it didn't live up to my Dutch expectations. It's definitely overpriced for what you get. The chairs look like the ones I had in high school! The space is also kinda small so tight at times... More

Ate here with a group of friends before Christmas. Food was fab, so much flavor and great value too. The only down side was because we were a large group and no one had been here before we didn't really know what to expect. When the dishes came out we didn't really know what was what. But nice different style... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Chameleon, apologies that we ran out of the wine you wanted on the night it can happen at Christmas however, this was a first. Delighted it all worked out fine in the end. More

Spent Saturday night in this amazing restaurant, service was great, food was amazing, atmosphere great. Just off temple bar. You need to book though to save disappointment. All the staff were very friendly too. Defiantly recommend to anyone, the slow roasted pork and the Irish beef taste brilliant! Thanks for a lovely evening!
