Chameleon in Temple Bar is an intimate, ambient restaurant that specialises in Indonesian rice-table. Rice table (or rijst-tafel) is when the diner is served an array of sumptuous different dishes, at the same time, from confit of pork belly with star anise to free range chicken satay to our delicious desserts, all made in-house! Its almost like Indonesian tapas!Since opening in 1994, its owners, husband and wife team, Carol & Kevin have made a point in using as much locally sourced Irish produce as possible, including only using free range Irish chicken and locally caught, seasonal Irish fish.Chameleon is ideal for a romantic get together or indeed, for your birthday party or Christmas party, as they can cater for groups of up to 40 in our private dining rooms.Winning may awards over the years in 2013 the Chameleon was voted Best World Cuisine in Ireland by the highly acclaimed Restaurants Association of Ireland

Stunning food

I enjoyed a stunning meal in Chameleon. The service was great, which always adds to the experience. My mom took a seafood menu while I enjoyed the meat one. Each item we tried was more delicious than the first! There was a lot to eat and I am sorry that I could not finish my dishes. The wine was... read more

Went here as a group of 11 girls for a hen party. Only booked this place based on trip advisor reviews and I'm glad I did. Excellent food and service. The seating is different and cosy which adds to the ambience of the place. Food was to die for. There is so much variety and portion sizes are great. Would... More

We visited in May 2015 and had never tried Indonesian food before so were looking forward to it and we weren't disappointed. Service was great and food came quickly. We both chose a rijst-tafel each so we got plenty of different dishes to try. We will definitely return next time we are in Dublin.

Lovely menu - it's not often that you get to try something new, and they did have one or two things I'd not seen before. Overall very tasty. The decor was what made the place though, plus the tapas style dining. A great place for either a couple or a group. The only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars... More

Don't get me wrong restaurant is very cute and has lots of character and the staff were friendly and service was good but the food was a let down. The starters were excellent so I had high hopes for the main course but it was bland and lacked flavour. The noodles and fresh cucumber, mango and pineapple salad was lovely... More

Having been recommended by a friend to go and try an Indonesian food extravaganza and having put it on a long finger. The only disappointment was the finger was too long. Excellent food, excellent service and an ambiance of real character. A must do experience when in the heart of Dublin. Looking forward to our next trip already. Hope you... More

Ate here for the first time on Valentine's day (2015) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There was a very reasonable offer for 2 (considering it was valentine's night), the decor is stunning - in reality it is a small cramped space but with mirrors and well laid out tables it didn't feel like it at all. There are little nooks... More

Visited last February for my birthday. Chose this place as I just moved to Dublin and was craving for some good quality Indonesian food (I was born in Indonesia and grew up there too). I was also very impressed after reading lots and lots of rave reviews here. Was quite excited to try the Rijst Tafel "Indonesian inspired' menu but... More

The food here is brilliant and reasonably priced. Great idea for small groups of people to eat together (there was 7 of us). The service was great, good selection of drinks and a nice cosy atmosphere. The restaurant is not fancy but the decor is quirky and it is nice and clean. The squid, pork belly and curries were all...
