Going on the Literary Pub Crawl we got to the Duke early to have dinner and a drink. The Irish stew, made with lamb, was the best we had in 2 weeks in Ireland. Service was good and friendly, atmosphere was great. I don't know if I will ever be back in Dublin, but if I am I will be... More

We wanted to find a REAL Irish pub, and it was only by accident we came across The Duke. It was a Saturday night and there was a literary pub crawl underway. It was only by reading the back of the menu we discovered this was THE pub for virtually all the famous Irish writers. And, the food was excellent!

I went to The Duke off Grafton street with a friend for dinner one night & loved it so much I went back again a few days later for lunch! The Duke is a beautiful old building off Grafton Street & don't be deceived, it's big too! so if it seems full when you get in there be sure to... More

I enjoyed my visits to Gilligans during a recent visit to Dublin. Nice setting, good atmosphere and good pub food. Friendly and efficient staff. Not as popular and populated as the likes of Keohes, McDaids and the Old Stand - so if you'd like a seat and good fare in quieter surroundings, the Duke is good news. Nice carvery.

We stopped here for a quick lunch on our first day in Ireland. Had our first Irish Guinness here and some Beef & Guinness stew which was great! Waitress was very helpful and the restaurant atmosphere was nice.

Whenever I visit Dublin I always find myself at The Duke. I usually just go for a drink, then those delicious smells come floating out from the carvery and I have to grab some food too. The best time to eat here is lunch time as the place doesn't get too crowded, so you get served pretty quick and you... More

Nothing spectacular. We squirreled a spot upstairs for dinner. Lamb shank and fish and chips. Both were tasty but nothing spectacular. Service was friendly. Probably worth it if we were on the pub crawl.

We met here for the literary pub crawl and ordered up some pub grub, Irish stew for himself and a chicken Caesar salad for me. Uh, not so much. I don't want to be mean here so I have to add that the service, although slow at 6 pm on a Friday night, was slow it was cheerful. But this... More

Had dinner at the Duke and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Reasonably priced and good service. Off Grafton St., so it is a little quieter.
