We arrived in Dublin after an overnight flight from the states. After checking into our hotel and resting a bit, we met friends in our hotel lobby. John suggested The Duke after we visited a couple of museums. We were a party of six with two young girls. We immediately were greeted and seated close to the entrance by the... More

Just went for lunch after a transatlantic flight. Wish we could have been more alert and hungry. But the service was very friendly and prompt, and the Smithwicks went down well. The soup was tasty - wish we could have eaten more. The decor was ... pub - nice. Would definitely go back one day.

I went with a group of 8 people for dinner, no reservation needed. The food was amazing, very good traditional Irish fare. I had the roast of the day (turkey) and some others had the stew and the pie of the day which was a mince pie. Everyone had rave reviews of their food. It wasn't particularly expensive and you... Fantastic pub with good service and food that is value for money. Drinks are a bit expensive, but for where it is located you wouldn't find anywhere cheaper. The carvery for lunch during the week is very tasty and I would definitely recommenced trying it out!

We was on a whirwind tour of Dublin in a day as was on a mini cruise and after a rather cold walking tour we looked around to find a traditional Irish pub to warm up in. We stumbled across the Duke and really liked the look so found a table. The guy behind the bar was very helpful as... More

I have been to Grafton often and The Bailey and Davy Byrnes have been places that I stopped for food and drink. However we went to the Duke with our Christmas Party and we had a great evening with a good buzz about the place and a warm atmosphere .We were looked after by exactly what makes a great Irish... Going on the Literary Pub Crawl we got to the Duke early to have dinner and a drink. The Irish stew, made with lamb, was the best we had in 2 weeks in Ireland. Service was good and friendly, atmosphere was great. I don't know if I will ever be back in Dublin, but if I am I will be... More

We wanted to find a REAL Irish pub, and it was only by accident we came across The Duke. It was a Saturday night and there was a literary pub crawl underway. It was only by reading the back of the menu we discovered this was THE pub for virtually all the famous Irish writers. And, the food was excellent!
