We was on a whirwind tour of Dublin in a day as was on a mini cruise and after a rather cold walking tour we looked around to find a traditional Irish pub to warm up in. We stumbled across the Duke and really liked the look so found a table. The guy behind the bar was very helpful as... More

I have been to Grafton often and The Bailey and Davy Byrnes have been places that I stopped for food and drink. However we went to the Duke with our Christmas Party and we had a great evening with a good buzz about the place and a warm atmosphere .We were looked after by exactly what makes a great Irish... Going on the Literary Pub Crawl we got to the Duke early to have dinner and a drink. The Irish stew, made with lamb, was the best we had in 2 weeks in Ireland. Service was good and friendly, atmosphere was great. I don't know if I will ever be back in Dublin, but if I am I will be... More

We wanted to find a REAL Irish pub, and it was only by accident we came across The Duke. It was a Saturday night and there was a literary pub crawl underway. It was only by reading the back of the menu we discovered this was THE pub for virtually all the famous Irish writers. And, the food was excellent!

I went to The Duke off Grafton street with a friend for dinner one night & loved it so much I went back again a few days later for lunch! The Duke is a beautiful old building off Grafton Street & don't be deceived, it's big too! so if it seems full when you get in there be sure to... More

I enjoyed my visits to Gilligans during a recent visit to Dublin. Nice setting, good atmosphere and good pub food. Friendly and efficient staff. Not as popular and populated as the likes of Keohes, McDaids and the Old Stand - so if you'd like a seat and good fare in quieter surroundings, the Duke is good news. Nice carvery.

We stopped here for a quick lunch on our first day in Ireland. Had our first Irish Guinness here and some Beef & Guinness stew which was great! Waitress was very helpful and the restaurant atmosphere was nice.

Whenever I visit Dublin I always find myself at The Duke. I usually just go for a drink, then those delicious smells come floating out from the carvery and I have to grab some food too. The best time to eat here is lunch time as the place doesn't get too crowded, so you get served pretty quick and you... More
